A MAN was yesterday jailed for three years for trying to import crystal meth, cocaine and amphetamine, into the UK.
Damien Lloyd,35, was cleared of trying to manufacture crystal meth when the prosecution dropped the case against him part way through the hearing.
Mold Crown Court heard Lloyd ordered drugs by email to be sent to his home in Mold. He sent £1,500 by money transfer to a Saint Joe in Benin, Africa, in order to get the illegal drugs. But it turned out he was dealing with internet fraudsters, the court heard.
Lloyd, who lived at his parents’ home at the Boar’s Head in Chester Street, Mold, admitted attempting to import three kilograms of cocaine, one kilogram of crystal meth, and one kilogram of amphetamine.
He was found to have the equipment and ingredients to make the drug but in 2006, no action was taken against him when the drugs and his equipment were seized from a shed at his parents’ former home in Glan Alyn, Mold. The equipment was returned to Lloyd and he set about replacing the ingredients to make crystal meth again, the court heard. In May 2007, officers seized all the chemicals apart from one needed to make the drug, and the lab equipment.
