The "high" has changed

so SWIM used to toke back in high school alot and now when SWIM tokes the "high" feeling is now a super paranoid and feeling retarded. it happens everytime i toke now for the last 4 months. anyone have any idea of wtf is going on?

SWIM has went through similar things in regards to smoking marijuana.

SWIM finds that first and fore-most, if SWIM stops smoking for a while and starts up again, the anxiety and overall dumbing feeling is quite prominent, enough so to make it actually no longer enjoyable.

Beyond that, SWIM finds that set and setting are true with marijuana as they are for a lot of other heavier substances. For instance, SWIM doesnt like to smoke at work. It makes SWIM feel alienated and out of touch with what I'm doing (SWIM doesn't do anything to heavy at work where one would worry about the pot interfering with my safety or the safety of others by the way).

SWIM also doesn't like to smoke in certain circumstances, IE, large crowds, in front of meeting new people, bla bla bla. It really seems to have different effects depending on where I am, who I'm with, and what I'm feeling like that day.

Suggestions? Well, SWIY might just want to stop if it's making you feel like that.
Maybe try to take note of what's going on around SWIY that's making SWIY feel like that while stoned, and then avoid that in the future.

swim has been in situations where swim didnt feel confortable being high like in large crowds and with new people but even when toking with buddies the effect is almost like im retarded and cant do anything but sit there too. idk if it is from past experiences from being high and having some-what traumatic things happen or not. maybe its that ?

Swim has had several times where smoking pot was no fun. Usual what swim found to be the culprit besides what fly-high described as setting, was the weed! Some strains don't work as well with swim as others, and swim has to kind of try and find out which are best. Swim also would like to recommend swiy try something that goes in the way of self improvement. It's very simple and has helped swim a great deal.

Swim used to get depressed all the time, and nervous when smoking pot. For a while he was about to quit. He then decided to ask the simple question WHY am I depressed when I smoke, why am I nervous. Swim finds pot to bring out thoughts that lie below the surface in his mind, which is why he doesn't recommend using pot EVER to "cope with" reality. This may work for a while but it deteriorates, and when it does you're usually left with more issues than you had when you started. So okay? The steps...

1. Smoke at a time when you're comfortable, alone, ready for the paranoia, and nervousness associated with the high.

2. Have a piece of paper and a pen to write down all the reasons why at that moment you're feeling the way you do, don't be afraid to go deep.

3. When you're sober the next day look at the list. Usually for swim the reasons he thought up were pretty straight forward as far as fixing them. They usually aren't something you can fix in a day, but with some good advice, belief in yourself, a lot of real thought, and ACTION, you can actually DEAL with your problems.

4. When you feel you've knocked off enough stuff on your list, follow step 1 again. The goal here is to just keep repeating the steps over and over again until you feel comfortable with yourself enough to go out, have fun with your friends, and enjoy your high at the same time.

Just so you know, things are constantly changing in our brains, our world is constantly changing around us, so this makes our job of repairing our minds, hearts, souls, and bodies a never ending task. Constant maintenance though is the goal as it's easier than going years without doing anything, and allows you to be happy no matter what substance you're on.

That's all pretty sound advice. In nearly every case of smoking-related anxiety, it has something to do with irrational fear. Humans are preoccupied with two main states of being, stress and relaxation. Pot should only ever be used to relax and not add to stress. If you take time to rationalize your anxiety, it may very well go away. If it doesn't, then pot simply isn't for you.

I second the sound advice above, and would add that SWIY might want to look at getting more sativa leaning varieties if possible. A good haze should have a stimulating, sociable effect, whereas indica strains are more likely to produce the sort of heavy-headed paranoia you describe.

Somewhat difficult because of the amount of crossing that goes on, but the easiest thing one could look for is sativa's leaves are generally thinner and longer, while indica's leaves are shorter and fatter.

alright so last night swim stayed home and toked a j of really high grade stuff from california home grown. swim got maybe three quarters through then started to think all the cars passing by could smell or see Swim (on the balcony) so swim went inside and started to watch tv which was really in-depth. maybe becuase swim was processing everything way quiker. usually swim doesnt see or hear to that detail watching tv but my sister came home (we share an apt) and even told me i was acting super wierd. then her bf came over and made me even more awkward cuz swim could swear they were talkling bout swim being high. after that swim thought he heard the sis and a girl talking bout him in a negative way too but today she didnt say anything bout it?..... everything always seems to go really wrong when swim gets high and really doesnt know if swim should toke again tonight for fear of something embarrasing to happen. any comments are greatly appreciated

Being stoned makes you super sensitive, sometimes to the point of paranoia. It is clear that SWIYou isn't enjoying being stoned in the present circumstances. I would advise SWIYou to wait until you're comfortable being stoned before you get stoned. Unless you feel positive about it, there's little point doing it.

fly hgh. this happened to swim after he got caught when he was 14 by swims mom. Some users get this. the best thing swim can do is smoke more and learn how to control swims high. what swim usually does also is deep breathing. concentrate on your breaths. relax. dont overthink things. and everything will be alright=)
