Oral use - Pictorial on Chewing Tobacco Use

I personally don't understand why many are disgusted by chewing tobacco. Tobacco is cultivated, harvested, and cured. Then, the product is wrapped in paper or put in a tin. One chooses to either inhale smoke or suck on (flavoured) leaf. But yes, seeing others fill up a water bottle with brown spit isn't usually pretty. Others and myself have come to greatly enjoy spitting, but I really believe that chewing (and dipping) tobacco is a terrible habit.

This thread crudely depicts how chewing tobacco is used. I found the pictures online and received permission to use them on this site. However, the owner simply wanted me to not take credit for the pictures; s/he didn't want his/her site to be referenced on a drug-related phorum.

This is the chewing tobacco being used. Feel comfortable sitting on the pouch (such as by tossing it in your back pocket); it will help keep air out and make it easier to pinch.

One grabs a pinch.

One punches the pinch in their palm to shape it spherically.

This is after the punch and before entering the mouth.

This is where the wad is placed. Near the back of the lower jaw.

The user sucks on the wad for a minute or so to help moisten it. Then, s/he carefully moves the wad out of their jaw with their tongue and slowly bites down on it without mutilating it's shape. This will start the juicing. Collect and enjoy the juice, and spit whenever is comfortable. Red Man is delicious.

A lot of chewing tobacco is sweetened, not necessarily 'flavoured'. Remember not to swallow the spit. Gnaw on the wad whenever one wants, such as for taste. Feel free to move it across one's mouth and into the other side of one's jaw.

SWIM keeps the chaw in his upper lip. S/he starts with the lower lip until after the first bite; s/he thinks it's easier to maneuver the chaw into the upper lip than into the lower one. There's no 'right' way to chew.
