cocaine, the mind, neurological and mental issues

I know that in the late 1800's scientists would do experiments where
they would do coke then try to lift weights but I don't know what the
results were. Does anyone have confirmed cases where coke
actually made you able to max more weight not just feel like you
could max more? Also someone on the forum mentioned taking
coke during a final exam, does this actually help?

i may not be understanding what your asking but i'll try my best. i'm not really sure about the physical apsect but i'm sureone could benefit for a mental task. when you lift any amount of weight as you probably know your muscles balloon in size compared totheir normal size. after you finish the set, blood rushes into the muscles to fill that spaceand that is where you get the "pump". when on yayo your heart is already being over-worked just to keep up at a resting rate... so, i doubt that coca would give you any endurance for your muscles. also, when you lift your body releases chemicals and hormones and it may not be wise to do yayo if this process is also going to take place. the coke can have the effect of putting your body in "fight or flight mode" and the yayo will really kick that up (heart pounding)if your talking about one set you would probably be ok but i wouldn't ever do yayo and then go exert myself with weights.

as for the mental aspect i am actually interested myself.

Mentally coke does seem to help while studying. I havn't tried it
before during a final. Often times I will get really strung out
when using it for whatever reason and that is a terrible feeling and
something that you wouldn't want to deal with if you were taking an
exam obviously. In general it does seem to help you learn more
quicker when you are studying, or at least it has with me.

I used it for my SAT's last saturday. I did a few lines at about 7am when Iwas walking out the door and I think it actually helped.

Well you might be able to lift more because you have more energy and more drive. The coke won't make your muscles stronger but it might make you push yourself harder. But they say its a bad idea to go to the gym and work out while on coke because of all the stress it would put on your heart. As far as using it to take a test, i'd think that depends on how you are on it. my friend tried that and she said she was too restless and couldnt focus on her test. but personally i think it would be helpful, i will do coke sometimes if i'm going to sit down and work on something. i like having the energy to get stuff done.

Knowledge inparments due to coke use

I know how coke effects your dopamine, but does can coke ruin your ability to learn? Or even make you stupid? You see very successful coke heads that do A LOT (5 grams a week) And they seem able to retain their massive intelligence, does it make you stupid? i know it can make you sad if you do too much and can't get your fix.

interesting question: in my opinion.. doing the drug and being hooked on it and letting it control one's life can make that person stupid or appear very stupid to others. i don't see how those addicted to yey, with all of the mental preoccupations with it throughout the day and the lack of calories that most addicts fail to take into their bodies could possibly make one appear intelligent. but i also hear what you're saying cause i know it is common for many professionals to use. maybe it's just that it affects their learning, but in an indirect sense (can't focus and add-type symptoms due to addiction).

i guarantee if you took the coke away from one of these people who does 5 grams a week they wouldn't last a day at their job. they might seem to have it all together on the surface, but it's just the drug that is making them seem super-human. as for learning, i would be interested to know about that myself. parkinsons disease and cocaine?

i saw some commercial on TV how your body stops producing dopamine when u have parkinsons disease, and it made me wonder. would that mean coke wouldn't mess you up at all? because doesnt it produce more dopamine or something, im just curious and i dont know much about either topic.

I would doubt coke would be helpful. Extensive drug use can burn out the receptors in the brain, so even though you have lots of dopamine, there are not as many receptors to intercept it. That is one reason you feel shitty after quiting many drugs. I would think that the effects from not having enough dopamine would be similar to the effects of not having enough receptors for the dopamine.

Amphetamine, and to a lesser degree MDMA and 2C-type RC's.

post-comedown attack induced by cocaine ?

swim has a question. said swim did like a couple of lines [between 4-6]..[called baby lines by the more experienced swims he was with]
before doing the lines, swim had smoked a joint. after doing the line swim felt fine.. it was his 4th time trying it. [swim did lines around 2.30-3 am ish)
swim then had time to chill out play a couple games including crazy 8 countdown with like 2 decks of cards and 2 other ppl, later get an erection, have sex & get home.
when swim got home he still felt fine, he went to his room and decided to smoke another joint before he went to sleep ,so he did. afterwards when he settled down in front of his tv ..his heart started to race like crazy.
swim works out often and has never felt his heart beat THAT fast.
swim was panicking, no nosebleed.no sweating.
just exaggerated heartbeat, panic feeling, felt like he was going to go into cardiac arrest
his eyes were bloodshot and his pupil were huge.
[swims eyes are dark dark brown, but when looking at his eyes at around 5.30 am, they were brown with a distinct shade of green present ????? ]
heartbeat was getting faster, swim tried calming down by meditating and focusing his energies. then tried to watch tv ,then tried to read, etc. nothing was working.
swim felt it was urgent to call friend, he did , it reassured him a bit but just because swim wanted someone to call the ambulance if he passed out. at one point swim started literally convulsing shaking.
...swim ran and took a all-vitamins pill, with some vitamin c,and apples. with plenty of water. still panicked. then swim went to take shower... by the time shower was over and swim got back to his room around 6 am his heart rate had stabilized and slowly started diminishing. but swim still couldnt sleep till 12 pm .
swim would like to kno what the explicit happened

The cocaine, the mind, neurological and mental issues thread

Can someone develop a panic disorder after using cocaine for a year or two more or less ?? The reason SWIM is asking is because SWIM is ONLY curious if this is possible or not ??

SWIM has been clean from coke for about 2 months now and decided to permanently quit. Not because of the addiction, not because of the high cost price but because of these panic disorder symptoms. Maybe SWIM should be thankful that he developed this and that this forced him to quit otherwise he would end up being a total mess. SWIM was a weekend user, but if he had it he would use it any day of the week also his tolerance was somewhat high.

After some time of his use things were always fine IT IS THEN that he developed something he never experienced before. Every time he uses, 3 lines, 4 lines - one line doesn't matter he would get a feeling of shortness of breath, serious panic attacks, anxiety attacks....these symptoms go away after a few hours and then leave swim with "frequent need for deep breaths with a lot of yawning"..

Swim is now 100% sure that this has nothing to do with heart problems or any serious health condition that he thought...it is PANIC DISORDER...and each time if he wanted to use he would get a PANIC ATTACK/ANXIETY ATTACK//... so my question is WHY this never happened before... a few months after the use... it happened after so long... and if he was about to use again he knows it would happen.

Share your thoughts please.

Re: post-comedown attack induced by cocaine ?

It had to have been the weed man, swim has always said that the cola and weed simply do not mix well. It has always increased his paranoia and heart rate. Try some coke and beer next time, the comedown is decreased, and the high seems to last longer.

Re: Cocaine Panic Distorder - Is it possible ??

Maybe swiy gets them b/c the white tightens your chest. Which sends your body into a panic attack. Maybe try benzos?

swim used to get them all the time but the panic attacks ended up going away for swim.

Cokes effect on the Mind

What are SWIYs feeling on occassional coke use and mental health? Does SWIYs feel that it can have a negative effect such as depression or anxiety or is it really in the same camp as social drinking - Feeling a bit shit like a hangover for a few days afterwards?

SWIM is talking very occassional small time binging on Coke not a habbit or addiction.

SWIM knows someone who suffers from a little OCD and GAD and wonderes if occassional coke use will effect these issues?

SWIM understands Coke psychosis in terms of high use but he/she is not talking in the league. Purely the occassional G or two.

Re: Cokes effect on the Mind

SWIM has OCD and occassionally used cocaine when he was working nights (as did the majority of his fellow coworkers), pretty much in the same way that SWIY describes; that is, he would just purchase a gram or so every now and then.

SWIM also suffers from general feelings of anxiety, but all such symptoms would disappear while he was high. Of course, these anxious feelings would return and be present at an even greater strength while coming down. But after a good meal and a good night's rest, SWIM was always back up feeling (as close as possible) to normal.

So to answer your question, SWIM did not notice his occassional use of cocaine affecting his anxiety symptoms greatly in the long run. The comedown always sucks, but he would always return to normal (just with a slightly lighter wallet). Of course this is just SWIM's personal experience, and SWIY may react differently.

Re: Cokes effect on the Mind

Hey,

SWIM used to use cola a lot - almost every day - at least a g.

Anyway when SWIM decided to stop they started suffering severe paranoia and panic attacks - about 5 day. SWIM went to the dr's and was put on diazepam for a month.

After the course was finished SWIM was ok but they still get the odd weird feeling a few days after a session.

I assume its part of the course.

I hope this helps xxxx
