DXM caused dizziness?
Hey, SWIM told me they have been using DXM for about 3 months now, their current highest dosage being about 800MG and they have used it no more then 10 times. They told me everything seemed fine, except for the past two weeks they have felt slightly nauseous, and when they turn their head in a rapid motion, (Driving for instance, such as checking their blind spot) they become very dizzy. They plan on seeing a doctor about this, but before they do they wanted to make sure that there is no way this is caused from their DXM use? Also do most modern drug test include DXM in their searches? (From doing some searches it seems possible but rare?) Thanks for any help, and thanks Parac for catching my mistake.

Re: DXM caused dizziness?
I don't think any drug test includes DXM since it is legal, but there is however, according to erowid, a chance that DXM use can result in a false positive for opiates.
About the dizzyness...it's hard to tell if that could be related to DXM. Using large doses close to once a week can have all kinds of weird side effects. SWIY could abstain from using for a few months and see if the dizzyness remains the same. |

Re: DXM caused dizziness?
Drug tests never specifically test for DXM. The hypothesis that DXM causes false positives for opiates was also refuted. However, DXM routinely caused false positives for PCP (which is tested for in most standard drug tests). Abstaining for several days before the test should rule out any chance of a false positive.
Since DXM causes acute dizziness, some sort of damage to the semicircular canals in the inner ear would be a possibility and an explanation of the described symptoms. Since this condition is putting SWIY at a serious risk (getting dizzy while driving), a physician should be consulted and preferably informed about DXM use. Abstaining from DXM for a while would also do no harm, since the symptoms will most likely go away in time. |

Re: DXM caused dizziness?
Could a physician report to authorities if one of their clients admitted to use of an illegal drug?

Re: DXM caused dizziness?
Generally not. And DXM is not tehnically illegal, so there is nothing to worry about.

Re: DXM caused dizziness?
This dizziness when turning the head left or right was caused by MDMA and Paxil in swim but not DXM. Swim thought this was a SSRI thing only.
