Bad Trip Triggers?

ive been really interested in lsd and have the opportunity to get
some, but i cant find anyone to either do it with me or babysit
me. im really not too concerned about a bad trip . . . but i was
wondering how bad it can get. my friends are all like 'youll be
permanently fucked up if you have a bad trip' . . . but none of
them have ever taken lsd or anything like it.

Your friends don't know what they are talking about. LSD won't produce a bad or a good trip, the trip comes from within. SWIM has never had a "bad trip", some have been frightening, but they were never bad.Psychedelics open doors from your conscious to unconsious mind. If one is comfortable with his mind and accepts the experience for what it is, there should be no problems. Also SWIM recommends tripping with someone else for the first time, preferably someone with some sort of experience with psychedelics.

Set and setting is key. For your first trip you should have an experienced guide with you. That person would be able to help you along with your journey and whatever you may encounter along the way. Also, your first time would best be in a quiet controlled environment. With no responsibilities at hand... One thing you want to make sure of that your mind is clear and nothing negative is happening in your life at the time. A death in the family or a breakup with a girlfriend would not necessarily be a goodmindfrane to have your first experience on.

Get your doses, store them properly, and wait for the proper time for you to have your first experience. When the right time comes. Everything will fall into place for you. Happy trails!!! =)

Its pretty much a way of saying "I" but to keep a clear legal trail, I think. The idea being that things people say ont his forum might be incriminating, so they say swim to keep themselves clear. I'm not sure its very useful though...the day a forum conversation is taken as admissible evidence is the day I blow up america.

Oh, and as for the bad trip question - as I understand, if you go into the trip in a good mood, you'll have a good trip. If you have a trip sitter though, and you start to go into a bad trip, they should be able to sit you down and calm you down, and convince you that you're safe. There're no dragons eating you or anything, and you can be pulled out of a bad trip like that. There's a guide somewhere that has lots of tips for stuff like that somewhere..I don't remember where though, or I'd give you the link.Edited by: Markins

SWIM aggrees. You make a decision to have a good time or not. You are the creator of your thoughts. SWIM makes an aggreement to have a good experience. If dark thoughts enter, they can be viewed as a movie going by so you don't have to latch onto it. Letting those thoughts go like frames of a movie going by. Thishelps people realize their intention of having a good experience. An experiencedshaman or guide/sitter willnavigate you thru this.

LSD ... like a Rock Concert. Love it (you might as well), why not?

A Trip is another world. It's like (for instance) a Rock Concert. This Music Miracle came into being, just for you. The day before, the Roadies set-up the stage (where there was no-stage). This is part of their carefulPreparation for a good Concert. I plan (at least some of) what I want to do during my Trip (a Travel Plan). Then, I take-care-of-business; I make sure that I have no EXTRA pressing needs for Trip Day. This leaves me Free, free to focus my loving attention to the Miracle of Tomorrow, AND frees me on Trip day.

The next morning, the Roadies do the Final prep work (so the Show will be Fantastic): Run the power cords, set up the mikes. On Trip day, when I first arise, I smile. I lay there for a minute or 2, just basking in the newness of this Wonderful day. The possiblilities are limitless. The Sky's (not going to be) the Limit. I begin feeling excited: Today's the Day.

I look inward deeply, and the World (and all of its thoughts) begins to fade away. Later, as the Concert begins, the rest of this World fades away, and what I am left with is the Show (my Magic World of Dreams-Come-True): Me ... Zooming through the Universe. I stop, experience the song. Wow! The song ends (it was a wonderful song). I cheer. The next song begins. Wow! I love this one too. That wonderful song ends. I am so grateful for that song. A new song begins . . .

Now comes the time to take the LSD. The Roadies test the microphones. Test, Test, Test. OK, NOW everything is ready for a great Rock Concert. I am about to take the Miracle-maker. I pause, gather up excitement (wow! here I am, ready to open the Door to the Magic World of Tripping). Let the Show begin! I pop it under my tongue. Mmm. Hmm. Well, here I go.

I have 15 minutes to gather myself up, prepare where I want to sit (or stand), and review any thoughts I have written down. The Stage is set. The Band will start playing in a few mintues. As the first pullings of my attention come, I cheer. Here comes the Band, running out onto the Stage. We're all cheering. They get settled, pick up their instruments, and "Hello!" "It's good to be here." The First Song begins. Welcome to our World.

Quite a good simile, I must say...though it seems vaguely familiar. Did you write that yourself, or did you copy that from somewhere?

I write my Stuff myself.

When I read something that "Speaks" to me, I just go down to the Post Reply box and start typing away.

It may well be that someone else wrote a simile like this one, but I have never read it. Actually (because I am interested in science), first I thought about comparing a Trip to a Space Launch ... 3, 2, 1, Blast-off!But then I decided thata Rock Concert would have MORE appeal.

Outer Space or a 50,000-seat Stadium ... a Trip is BEYOND compare. There's Nothing like it. Zoom.

Where I live, we tamed our police. If they don't behave - us long-haired freaks who run this town will go and fire them. One evening I was with some friends who had helped me move a house of material. Walking back from the dinner I bought them for their assistance, they asked if I could find them some pot. So we stopped off in the local park by our city hall. Finding some likely candidates, I asked if they could get my friends high. Down we sat and the joints were rolled and passed. A few people of the drunken persuasion appeared on the scene and began drinking their beers. Then a cop walked up. The joints were being passed. The cop ordered the drunken people to go home and get some sleep. He wished us a good evening and walked away. The joints still being passed. My friends were in total shock.

Bad Trip Triggers (LSD)?

Does anyone know anyone who can remember the thoughts they had that caused them to start experieincing a bad trip? When they think about them soberly, are the thoughts stil disturbing? Or do they view them in a somewhat comical light?

SWIM had a bad trip when the LSD hit him so hard he was sure he was going and acting insane. This led to the fear of people thinking he needed help and calling an ambulance, and also the fear that he was in the near future and was creating a false memory as to what led him to that point.

You need to write down what happened. Then put it into a format. Please do so. It's not difficult.

Re: Bad Trip Triggers?

For instance, SWIM is stoned now and is thinking that he's sure someone will post a reply to this thread saying that his LSD experience is a sign that he's psychotic and that he should never have messed around with the drug because it's damaged him more. The thought is strong, but SWIM understands it's not true however if he were on LSD, that thought might not be ignored so easily and he could launch into an "I'm going insane" trip.

Re: Bad Trip Triggers?

Haha yeah, I know I shouldn't, but I'm just drawn to the causes of insanity...During some LSD trips, SWIM has really literally gotten himself into thinking patterns where he has a disburbing feeling of his mind splitting in two and wonders if the possibility of that happening gets increased when he doesn't try deviate from those thought patterns, but rather lets the "mind splitting" sensation get stronger and stronger.

Re: Bad Trip Triggers?

SWIM would like others to post - if they remember - the thoughts that drove them into a bad trip. He thinks that there may be a general thought pattern experienced by a majority of users that could be avoided to lessen the chances of a trip.

In the "If LSD were to uproot a dormant..." thread, Nagognog mentioned that people who have been thrown into severe disintergrated persona states can often remember the thoughts that caused the snap in their mind, as if they were an objective viewer of an internal battle.

SWIM is very interested in reading about what these thoughts were, that caused such an experience and whether or not they're thoughts that could be attributed generally, or if they were so personal they'd only affect the user and no one else who'd think the same thing.

Please read SWIM's thread "Nu-Weird and Fugue States". He's detailed the precursor to a very intense bad trip.

Re: Bad Trip Triggers?

Swia would say where people relive feelings of upset and great distress which can get caught up a thought loop and then begin to constant bombard the user until he/she can let go. this can apply to irrational fears to. sometimes it could be mood. depends on mindset before experience most dictates, but then you can always change the mindset its when people who dont relise they cant that they get stuck no matter how difficult it is. the experience will always end. ultimately its up to the user if they wish to suffer a bad trip. just swia opinion thou.

Looking back at SWIM's bad trip, he may have to agree with you. During, and subsequent to the trip SWIM believed that it was the working of sequential events that lead him to the back of his friend's car (where most of the intense effects occured.)

However, on sober analysis, SWIM realises that there were a few, brief uncomfortable thoughts spread over about an hour. SWIM then returned to the car after using a porta-party (outdoor festival) to get something to eat. He then felt that he was too disorientated to return to the festivities and would rather stay in the car. This is when his mind travelled went back to the disconcerting though patterns that lead to a full-blown bad trip, mainly from stringing together those few brief moments into a sequential "story-line" which he was sure was the reason he was seeking refuge in a car.

If that makes sense.
