I dont know if this fits into these threads but, on X-mas eve i had a dream and in this dream i saw a gelletin flowing off of the walls and when some one would talk to me i couldnt understand what they were saying and they couldnt understand me, i also would see a person i havent seen for awhile then they would just dissapear into thin air, i also felt as though my limbs weighed a million tons and it was hard for me to move.
The next day i started doing some reseach on motion sickness pills because i heard they can cause hallucinations when used in excess. So i was reading trip reports on erowid and realized that almost all the reports had the same hallucinations that i had dreamt about the night before, vanishing people, heavy limbs, ect. This scared the SHIT out of me! I usually assume that a dream means something. I just dont know what i should take from this experience! Should I try these pills? Should i stay far far far away from them? Can anyone give me any opinions?? |

Re: Nightmare About Hallucinations I Didn't Know About!?
swim didn't take these drugs though? anyways if swiy wants to experience similar things swiy is probably looking for atropine(?) which is found in "the nightshades" such as belladonna and datura and stuff. atropine is what is in the pills for motion sickness. swim is giving warning that swi will almost guarantee that swiy will not enjoy what comes from this. swim has done it and is very grateful he did not over do it on the belladonna. swiy should research this substance (atropine) A LOT before making any decisions. research on this site, erowid, and other places. it can also be very deadly.

Re: Nightmare About Hallucinations I Didn't Know About!?
Atropine isn't in motion sickness pills. Atropine is anticholinergic, motion sickness pills contain diphenhydramine, which is a first generation antihistamine with same kind of deliriant effects on high doses. This is one of the few class of drugs, if not the only one, that SWIM just wouldn't touch.

Re: Nightmare About Hallucinations I Didn't Know About!?
It sounds like your experience was a fairly negative/frightening one, is Swim right? Your post sounded as though it was a pretty tough/unpleasant feeling- which makes sense, because it can be quite rough and uncomfortable and unpleasant to be disassociated and unable to control one's basic functions and interactions. While there is certainly some loss of control, one could argue, with any and all substances, most are not this distinct and total feeling of confusion and helplessness, and can actually be informative ie. the psychedelic state, whereas it seems difficult to gain much insight in the delirious state. To answer your question, no, Swim would not recommend taking substances to induce a similar experience as in the trip reports you read, 1) because as swiy just shared, s/he has had that type of experience and found it frightening, and 2) because even if swiy has used drugs in the past, or is curious about altered states and wants to pursue them, there are much more benevolent substances with fewer risks, depending on what you are looking for. IMHO, there is little to be gained from one of these trips which I believe you refer to- ie. diphenhydramine/dimenhydrinate (ie. Benadryl, Dramamine, etc.) But of course, they are legal and easily and cheaply obtainable in many countries, so swim can see the allure for someone who wants to experience an altered state without spending a lot of money, risking arrest, etc. But also keep in mind, that legal status and availability are not always reliable indicators of a substance's safety or reliability.

Re: Nightmare About Hallucinations I Didn't Know About!?
Why would SWI((N want to try sth after a dream almost made him shit in his pants?
If dreams have a meaning, well this one could have meant, that SWIN is scared of the effects one has to expect from this kind of substances. So why bother trying a substance while expecting nothing but a very bad trip? |

Re: Nightmare About Hallucinations I Didn't Know About!?
SWIM says thanx for the advice! He decided to stay away from diphenhydramine/dimenhydrinate. Moda00, you were very accurate on assuming why he would be attracted to it (and mostly everything else), very cheat and accessable (and legal). SWIM is a huge fan of psychedelics but resently moved to a new city and has NO connections on anything close to LSD-45. He also decided that there was only one thing he could learn from a trip on such a substance, that he would in fact be completly and utterly horrified to see his friends from his home town come into his room and vanish into thin air! So again, thank you for the advice.
