Tramadol Legality/Scheduling

So ultram is non-schedule as of right now (01/2008), which I think is a large part of why the doc does not give much fuss about prescribing 200mg daily to me. I really can't see this drug remaining unscheduled though, the effects are certainly there and on par w/ other schedules IMO...I'm just curious how long people will think this may take or have any information on the possibility of this happening soon (w/i 5 years?). It would be good for me to have some warning on this.

Re: Tramadol Legality/Scheduling

swim doesn't know much about law and what not. if it is unscheduled what exactly does that mean. swim knows it's not over the counter, at least not in usa. but isn't a perscription needed? swim needs to get some for withdrawals.

Re: Tramadol Legality/Scheduling

oh yeah as far as swiys question goes.. it probably depends on a few things. like how many people are abusing it. if it all the sudden becomes a huge problem and it gets media attention.. its going to get scheduled.

Re: Tramadol Legality/Scheduling

Un-scheduled means the DEA doesn't monitor its distribution I believe. Many drugs are prescription only but not scheduled because they pose little to no potential for abuse (i.e. insulin, heart medicines, etc.)

Yes, while the unscheduled drugs are this way because of that. But there are quite a few unscheduled drugs that have potential for abuse. All it will take is another kid running through the streets naked after taking a hit of salvia or another kid tripping on dextromethorphan, on youtube to put this drug under review. SWIus can only hope this does not happen.
