MAOI's and suboxone (Buprenorphine)
Swim currently is on suboxone (as perscribed) and due to horrible withdrawals, swim finds it very difficult to stop his routine. However, swim is anticipating trying ayahuasca, and wonders if there will be any horrible reaction with the suboxone. Swim looked on erowid and they did not list opiates as one of the drugs to watch out for, but swim is still a little worried (mostly because suboxone is not fully an opiate, and it also has naloxone)...should swim be anxious about this? Could anyone provide any info, because until then swim will have to put his ayahuasca experience on hold...

Re: MAOI's and suboxone (Buprenorphine)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monoami...dase_inhibitor
"Purely opiate-acting analgesics, such as morphine and buprenorphine may be used safely with MAOIs, but may require a dosage adjustment." Just searching the web, I'm not seeing much to indicate that there's a danger involved. I'm sure someone more resourceful will pop up with a more definitive source giving a clearer and better explained answer soon enough, haha. |
