DF Social Group for Those in Recovery

I have created the social group "Sober Minds" which is open to people who choose to abstain from drugs (doesn't have to be permanent):

http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/group.php?groupid=16

I figured that this could also be useful for recovering addicts to help find support in coping with sobriety.

Remember, the rules apply there, so it isn't a confessional.

Re: DF Social Group for Those in Recovery

It seems to me that this is a group for people that are abstaining from drugs, but this is not a recovery support group. Or is it? People coping with loosing their addiction will need a dedicated support group, which excludes people that have not or are not going through this.

Re: DF Social Group for Those in Recovery

You are right. I'll ask for someone interested to create such a group (in the groups thread). Feel free to delete this thread, as it will be replaced.

Re: DF Social Group for Those in Recovery

Could this be changed into a recovery support group? If it remains I am in. Alfa is right recovery is an essential part of staying off drugs, abstainance usually fails.

Re: DF Social Group for Those in Recovery

I wouldn't change it, since 1) I am neither in recovery nor an addiction specialist (so I shouldn't be the creator of such a group), and 2) other members who joined may also not be there for recovery. Sober Minds is a group for people who stay sober for some time or completely abstain from drugs.
