Opinions - Is DMT stronger than LSD?

Swim wants to know if DMT is stronger than LSD. Someone posted a video claiming that DMT is the strongest psychedelic substance on earth.

Is this true?

Yes. DMT along with ibogaine and salvia are the top dogs for sheer power ( and maybe ketamine ). LSD is still not to be underestimated. When smoked DMT and salvia are very short acting - around 15 minutes. LSD isnt as strong but it lasts up to 12 hours. If DMT is mixed with an MAOI and swallowed the effects will last longer but wont be as strong.

Stronger how? In terms of active dosage amounts, no quite the opposite.

But I'm assuming that you're wanting to compare the raw "strength" or intensity of the experiences stemming with use of these substances. It's a totally subjective question IMO, but realistically I'd have to say yes, a normal-dose DMT experience will typically be far more intense (mind-blowing, perhaps) than a normal-dose LSD experience. But I still have to stress that this is a mere opinion and that trying to compare different substances with very different effects in general like this is a difficult thing to do.

As for being the "strongest substance on earth," that just seems vague and even more subjective.

Obviously trying to define 'strength' when it comes to this is just going to give you a bad headache, but it's fairly clear what you mean and the general consensus is 'yes'. For most people, a regular dose of smoked DMT is like nothing else. Even when taken orally (which can be a tricky thing to actually accomplish), it's still generally considered to be the 'strongest' of the similarly acting psychedelics (LSD, mescaline, etc). This might be because there's no real consensus on what a good oral dose of DMT is, and most people take it from a plant, rather than ingesting the pure compound; in other words, they're guessing.

This is an incorrect assessment. While LSD is active below 25 MICROgrams, more than 5 MILLIgrams is needed for active administration of DMT.

Yeah, microgram by microgram, LSD is stronger. If you took 25-50 mg of LSD, you would be taking 250-500 times what is considered a single "dose" of LSD. If you took 25-50 mg of DMT, you would be taking only a single dose. By weight, the same amount of LSD would probably check you out mentally for life. Most LSD users only use LSD in their lifetimes FAR fewer than 250-500 times, so the same weight of LSD as a single dose of DMT can be enough to supply a single person's needs for life.

If we are talking about potency then Lsd effects are in the 100ug Microgram ranges while smoked DMT are in the 50mg (milligram) range.

As for effects LSD is like riding a bike, while DMT is like riding a skud missile into a blackhole.

Couldn't have said it better myself.......except that I read that the threshold of LSD is approximately 20ug.

Both are quite different in ways.

DMT takes one into different dimensions and rooms! Primarily 2 dimensional, consisting of alien encounters, space that folds with reality generating technology and entities that fold and collapse in on themselves. Somehow they are creating what we see every waking moment. Eyes open reality sharpens dramatically showing us more of what is really there! Color changes and space becomes 2 dimensional! People change into other creatures.

Most people don’t do high doses of LSD these days.

With LSD everything becomes liquid! The external reality, your body and your mind all become liquefied! Your consciousness and the space behind your eyes speeds up like the millennium falcon going into light speed. Your consciousness detaches from your logical mind and your solid form and it exists outside everything else and becomes one with other objects! Reality breaks down into pure light and peace as if there is only light. LSD really defies explanation!! There is no visual contact with other realities as with DMT.

LSD is probably doing the same thing as DMT, however being a different type of reality filter. Shows us another angle of the transcendence between! With LSD, man has modified natures intergalactic key "DMT" by creating a similar reality breaking instrument!!!

I've allways told people with this question: LSD and Mushrooms open your mind's eye a little, while your physical eyes are still seeing the external physical world. This causes the physical world (seen by physical eyes) and the Spiritual/Energy world (seen by the mind's eye) to be percieved as though overlapping eachother. The Physical world still being predominantly present when "normal" doses of LSD or Mushrooms are taken.

DMT however, if taken in a breakthrough dose, completely removes your awareness from the physical world and completely transfers your awareness to the spirit/energy world. It totaslly disconnects one's consciousness from the physical world and totally opens the mind's eye, thereby completely replacing the physical enviroment with a visonairy, energy enviroment.

Ibogaine and Datura. The second certainly isn't recommended, though. If there's one drug out there that causes a disproportionate number of users to become dead, hospitalized, or mentally scarred, it's Datura. See fo' yourself if you want.

I think in pure power yea its stronger, It's surely not as long lasting as LSD in a single does, but i think the actual journey is much more intense!!!

SWIM would consider DMT like a cross of a hurricane and earthquake on the brain, but like an earthquake its over before you really realized what happened. It's the main reason my friends like to write on LSD and not on DMT.

Swim thinks moving on to DMt and ayahuasca is taking it up a level from LSD and mushrooms, tho as someone said LSD is not to be underestimated, its too long for swim and doesnt attract him which hes shocked by being a heavy user in the past

"Compare a full blown DMT trip to a "thumbprint LSD" trip. The trips are just about as intense, but the LSD trip will last an entire day."

What is being confused here is the strength refering to active dose and the strength refering to effects. At "one dose" whatever that may be, DMT will have stronger effects. It doesnt make sense to say that 5 doses of LSD will equal 1 dose of DMT or whatever because it doesnt work like that, its like saying 3 doses of marijuana equals one dose of cocaine.. it just doesnt make sense.

DMT is like the peak of a thumb print dose of Lsd for ~30min. DMT is very quick compared to Lsd. so people would be more likely to try a dose of DMT rather then a thumb print of Lsd for that sort of trip. To me that makes lsd more intense or hardcore then dmt. Also try a mg of Lsd vs. a mg DMT.

5-MeO-DMT is more powerful than DMT or LSD by a long shot. Its blows DMT and LSD clear out of the water. It's maybe 10 times more intense than either.

Now DMT compared with LSD, it's really apples and oranges. I'd say they are just as intense but in very different ways. LSD is more intellectually psychedelic and DMT is more visually psychedelic.

Iv heard that 5-MeO-DMT is much more toxic feeling than DMT (or LSD for that matter tho)...this seems a bit redundant but in what way is it more powerful than a DMT or high dose LSD experience?

seeing as LSD is active in MICROgram ammounts where 5-MeO-DMT is active in MILIgrams, it would seem that LSD is more potent, gram for gram. LSD also lasts alot longer than 5-MeO-DMT. That said, swim has never tried DMT and has no idea what the experience is like. Intensity may be much greater in DMT for an average dose when compared to and average LSD dose.

This is an apples and oranges question.
SWIM grew up around the home of "Orange Sunshine", and was quite experienced with its effects. Sunshine was supposedly rated at 500 micrograms.
Anyways, Within the Brotherhood were a number of so-called "High Doser's". They would take 15 tabs of sunshine, and dwell in the "void" for hours. SWIM is guessing that 7500 micrograms of LSD, at it peak, would meet or beat DMT's peak effect, and not for a humble 2-4 minutes, but a 2-4 HOUR peak.

SWIM is very familiar with the "Aztec Twins": dmt, and 5-MeO-DMT.
The time to peak are approximately equal-/+ 5 seconds after a full smoked dose.

DMT is very colorful, geometricentric in the extreme.
5-MeO-DMT takes one to what has been described as the void. It is extremely visual in another sense. The vistas seen can be almost infinite, one can see the dance of energy in its duality at play, a look at the engine of creation perhaps?
Blood pressure and pulse rise are probably similar for both "Twins.

So far SWIM's favorite is still 5-MeO-DMT, but he is now begginng another round of experimentation with DMT after a 5 year hiatus from all psychedelics.(Not counting SWIMS Ketamine addiction)

SWIM suspects a molecule or two remain undiscovered which will unlock a few more doors of our brain toward greater knowledge.
