Opinions - Possible to talk to figure of authority while tripping?

Besides maybe the physical signs of tripping, would it be possible to talk to a parent or authority figure while tripping?

In monkeys experience this can be difficult, depending on how hard he was tripping, but has managed to pull it off. Not that he would recommend it by any means. He recommends being sure to stay away from situations where this would become necissary while tripping.

grandmas talked to a few cops while tripping,i think it all has to do with the confidence one has in their knowledge of their rights.

My pet dragon made the mistake of underestimating morning glory seeds when he was 17 and went out to dinner with his parents as he thought the experience was just ending. In reality, it was just beginning. So far the experience was 3 hours post ingestion and he'd gotten a lot of strong euphoria and giggles but that subsided so he accepted his parent's invitation. He thought something was odd when in the shower beforehand he started seeing slightly in triple and other distortions, as if random photoshop filters were being applied to his visual field, but he stupidly ignored these early warnings. It was just as the car ride to the restaurant (some 20-30 minutes away) that things kicked into gear. Everything in his vision started swimming around, every intersection looked the same yet looked like a place he had never been before. By the time he sat down to eat, the visuals were in full force. Luckily the mental aspect of the trip was light, apart from feeling nervous and uncomfortable, probably due only to the situation. However, it was the strongest visuals he had ever had in his life at that point, so it was hard to keep himself appearing sober. The drug had temporarily taken away his ability to taste, so he could barely eat. He played it off to his parents as if he was feeling sick, and thus was able to get away with staying fairly quiet. Luckily his sister was there as well to keep the conversation going. Occasionally he would talk to his sister but it felt difficult to articulate his thoughts into sentences and he would often stumble over words, so his comments were few and far between. Things began to taper off on the car ride home...fantastic, the peak of the experience was wasted trying to pretend to be sober/sick.

However, when he got home there was luckily some surprises left in the LSA, he lay in bed, turned out the lights and listened to music, and got some amazing music enhancement, visuals, and synaesthesia between sight, sound, and touch. At times he could see the exact 3D structure of the depression his body made into his mattress.

In the end, he considered this a very valuable experience, despite knowing it could've been a lot more fun had he made the smart decision to stay home. It proved to my dragon that he could stay calm, sane, and rational even while tripping quite hard in a bad situation.

Not having personal or SWIM's experience about having to deal with such situations, I agree with the above. It's pretty much about not thinking about the cold and frightening reality that you are IN FACT facing someone in their normal senses and that how different you feel from him. Thinking that you can be confident about the present moment and trusting your abilities to give sensible responses can make a world of difference. Ofcourse there's a limit somewhere, talking about dosage, at some point you lose a touch of reality, but psychological factors are the huge ones.

SWIM has never had to talk to an authority figure while tripping on LSD but he doesn't imagine it would be too difficult. He has had to talk to and be around police (especially at concerts) while taking MDMA and he has had no problem in those situations, and likens the anxiety from both trips to be about the same with the dosages he takes. Magic mushrooms on the other hand give him intense anxiety if he isn't talking to a friend or doing something so I would imagine those would be very difficult to confront an authority figure on, although friends of his had conversations with police on shrooms. If SWIY thinks his anxiety on a LSD trip is high than it probably is, since its all relative and with hallucinogens the trip is really what you make of it. I feel like this answer would be different with almost anyone you spoke to because of that.

SWIM has never had any problem talking to PoA's tripping at low dosages. At higher dosages, SWIM suggests talking to similarly creative people.

Though SWIM has never interacted with anyone else while on LSD apart from close friends, he did go to a shop late at night while peaking on a high dose of 2C-I. He went out to buy a bottle of red wine and a can of beer, as well as some chewing gum. Just as SWIM and his frient left the appartement, their visuals started to get stronger and stronger, and by the time they entered the shop, their visuals were insane. He still managed not to freak out while paying for their groceries, even though the daughter of the store owner, who was standing behound the counter, was melting into the wall behind here, while her face was twisting and turning. The girl looked at her father who is the store owner with a funny face, but that was all. That was some weird experience, that for shure. Not worthy of repeating.

swim has had encounters with various forms of authority (police, security, the occasional parent) on mushrooms, LSD, and 2C-B, all of which went exceptionally well. On mushrooms, swim found himself face-to-face with two police officers and an ambulance after being inside a bank during a gunman's stick-up. Needless to say, his heart nearly leapt from his chest. Wet lips and dry eyes, swim explained to the officer that he needed a moment to breathe after such an incident. Upon exiting the building with the officer, swim lit a cigarette and fell gently into a warm, welcome comfort zone. As long as his eyes remained on the cigarette's glowing ember, he could maintain the conversation to a T (so to speak). swim recommends following suit and finding a simple mechanism to focus the 'trip' on. Allow the visuals to manifest, all the while reminding oneself that they are a product of the manifesting chemistry of endogenous and ingested psychoactives (no one else can see what swiy see). swim followed his own advice and had no problem in his ensuing future encounters.

The wonderful thing about emotions is that they are in fact states of mind, and while there are somatic triggers one can access required emotions rather quickly (I guess through training, as it was for SWIM, but he can't speak for others). SWIM has found that psychoactives can catalyze emotive states simply through feeling what that state is, and then stepping into that feeling. So if a state of resourcefulness or being at peace, or whatever state required to talk to authorities may be needed he can just trigger it using a little 2 second meditation on that state.

SWIM had an experience at a New Years party a few days ago.

Everything was going fine, SWIM was on 2 hits of quality LSD, there was drunk people, people on E, etc, when someone was given a line of ketamine, expecting MDMA or something similar.

Cut to a few minutes later, that person was freaking out, and people had the smart idea of calling paramedics. With the paramedics, the police also came out, and called SWIM outside to talk to them. After finding hard to communicate to the officer whilst his face and the general area was surrounded by swirly things, they assumed SWIM had a few too many pints and told SWIM just to be careful.

Boy was SWIM's heart going like a marching band.

Depends entirely on the substance one would be tripping with. if it was smoked dmt after an hour possibly. Why would one want to talk to an authority figure or parent seems like that could off set the hole thing on remaining calm with set and setting specially with drugs like lsd-25.

SwiM has talked to swiM's dad completely tripping, twice, and once on a comedown. The first time, swiM was returning from a friend's house and met him by the stairs. Very hard to form sentences.

The second time swiM got lucky - he was just saying not to stay up and goodnight.
The next morning swiM woke him up at 8am while still kinda tripping (bout 6 hours into it.) Swim thinks dad could tell something was up but never did catch on lol.

Oh yes, and one of swiM's friends managed to talk to a cop on 'cid. It was at a big music festival tho so I dnt think the guy cared .

When SWIM was a kid, once I took a big hit of liquid by swim's self (why, SWIM don't know), knowing fully that swim was going home for the rest of the night. About 30 minutes later when it started kicking in, swim made the 30 minute drive home and swim was relieved to get there.

Then swim had to eat dinner with the parents. Swim was in his later teenage malcontent years, and rarely said anything to the 'rents to keep the peace, so dinner wasn't that bad. Then swim retired to his room, well away from the 'rents area, for the rest of the night.

Still, swim had a very intense, yet awful trip. Only after around midnight, after the peak wore off, did Swim finally feel comfortable. Swim smoked all of his weed that night too. Also, swim got a somewhat threatening phone call during the peak, which weighed on Swim's mind the entire trip. Wow, it was nearly 20 years ago when this happens, and swim remembers it like it were yesterday.

Swim remembers that for most of the trip, swim's mind was constantly fixated on whether or not the 'rents knew something was amiss with their kid. The next day, swim had like no sleep, but everything was o.k.

Later in life, maybe six years later, swim was a Jazz Fest with his big brother, and the parents showed up later. Both swim and big brother were tripping on some midgrade acid, yet it was a big party scene and it was the best time ever with the parents. Swim kept telling them how much he loved them, of course, the 'rents thought swim was just drunk like them.

SWIM and 2 friends were in the woods near SWIM's college and had taken 2 tabs of acid, were tripping intensely and just finished smoking a joint when who should appear but 3 asshole cops with flashlights screaming let me see your hands... well let me tell you, SWIM and his friends more than handled the situation, at the time SWIM felt that everything in the world made complete sense. In SWIM's mind he was clearly brighter that the 3 cops, and with that feeling of being untouchable... we were searched... the most amazing thing, the cops pulled everything out of SWIM's pockets EXCEPT the ROACH which SWIM had saved for later. After searching SWIM and his friends to no avail the moron cops changed the reason they were out there in the first place, they went from accusing SWIM and his friends of smoking pot, to saying that the woods was dangerous and they were out there to tell SWIU how dangerous it was to be out there at night...well, after that bogus comment, is where SWIM really made them feel like idiots, SWIM gave three reasons why we should be out there and they shouldn't be, after which the cops walked away not saying anything further except have a good night, leaving SWIU to each light up a cigarette, and revel in the fact that we made 3 cops walk away feeling like idiots when SWIU were all in fact tripping on acid and had just finished smoking a joint only minutes earlier.... moral of the story confidence in yourself and trusting that you will walk away from the situation fine is the deciding factor, if you think your screwed you probably are, if you think your fine... you also probably are, dont let fear overtake your emotions.

On a side note, the feelings and things SWIM saw during that time especially when the rush of adrenaline came from the cops friggin appearing out of no where in the dark woods was one of the coolest experiences SWIM has had, SWIM couldn't stop staring at the light on the ground from the cops flashlights... at the time they were amazing.
