Unlicensed test tubes, Erlenmayer flasks, illegal in Texas
Just learned [Ig Nobel Chemistry award 1994] the Texas Drug Control Act of 1994, still in effect, specifies that it's illegal for anyone in Texas to purchase any chemical supplies, including test tubes, Erlenmayer flasks, etc, without state approval of a 9 page permit application.
As far as I know this is only marginally related to that state's [I think? or was it Georgia?] earlier consideration of a bill [not passed] to make pi = 3.14 to simplify things for math students... Last edited by bravedog; 12-01-2008 at 03:03.
