UK - Letters for the press wanted

In the UK at the start of 2008 there has been a furore over the comments made by a chief constable concerning drug legalisation, see this link but I'm sure you will find plenty more: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7167102.stm

I was going to write myself to capitlise on this window of interest as I have been successful at getting various campaigning letters published in The Times and Guardian before, but would like to see what members can come up with in suitably concise letters. I'm going to speak with this sites admin as well an see if perhaps an agreed complilation of ideas can be sent with the forum's approval.

I would just like to say to any would-be letter writers that it is important to keep the debate as topical as possible, and relate it strongly to the issue - don't slip off into the generalised debate without using current examples found in the news that people know about. This will increase the likelihood of it being published. I also implore you not to simply state your own argument, but rebut, rebut, rebut - that's how you convince people, not by being right but by proving that the other guy is wrong and making all who follow him look like idiots; people very rarely wish to be seen as an idiot.
