Frank Zappa, composer, musician
Zappa was a self-proclaimed "practical conservative", an avowed supporter of capitalism and independent business.
Zappa recorded over fifty albums. Swim considers him a musical genius. Absolutely. I rate Frank Zappa as one of the greatest 20th century popular musicians. He played so many different styles, incorporated and innovated producing a catalogue of albums that few people can match in this day and age. I love the way, although the music is excellent and intricate, the lyrics are largely comical probably because he thought "all the good music has already been written by people with wigs and stuff".

I like some Zappa more than others. I haven't actually heard that much, to be honest, but I prefer his jazzier instrumental stuff (Hot Rats is fantastic) to his more pop-influenced pieces. I'm not a huge fan of his guitar style either, although I don't particularly mind it.

Yea but some of his pop songs are satires like valley girl; his daughter provided the parts where the valley girl is rambling on. it's so funny

lol, when I lived the states and I tried to fake their accent they always said I sounded like a valley girl.

I love his cynical humor, Wet T-shirt time, joes Garage, Sheik Yerbouti and Apostrophe, ah... Roxy and Elsewere are good examples. I was very sad, as he died much to early. Like many genius people....
