What must be done to legalize drugs?
So, I always hear talk of drugs being legalized. But that is all it is - talk.
Shit rarely happens, and when it does its bullshit and its not actuall legalization (like the so called legalization of medical marijuana in certain states). What would have to be done for drugs to be legalized? I was thinking something like this: A congressman/senetor publically annouces that he will get drugs legalized and is willing to argue w/ any politician who believes differently and will tear them apart thru intellectual humiliation. Of course, because all politicians realize that legalization is beneficial but are all just pussies to do it, no one will want to argue w/ him in a public setting. That congressman/senetor then writes a bill repealing the dope acts, and writes a new bill that talks about the regulation of drugs instead (the same way alcohol is regulated by the government should be the same way dope is, obviously). These bills are put into circulation and voted on. The other congressmen/senators will vote yes sence none of them wanted to argue against, and then it will go to the president where he will make the final decesion. This sounds blatantly simple and of course I am missing something. What must happen? I have always considered a life of politics and think this could be something to base my carear off of. I would love to be the man who started the movement of legalization and I would worship the man who did it. So, my question is: What must happen for dope to be legal? |

Re: What must be done to legalize drugs?
First of all "dope" will never be legal, but if you were to called the drug by its name, then it stands a better chance then just labeling and generalizing the whole thing in one catagory.
Marijuana is a major major step toward reform of drug laws, it starts with that, like finding out how many use it , and gain a certain releif . Hopefully amphetamines are the next to be exalted, they are needed to aid in productivity for some who lack that energy level. Get involved , put the information out where it can be seen , work with others who share in the intrest to gain support for the idea of accessability. I don't think change will happen too quickly, but at least with Med MJ it's a start, No way did I ever think it would have been possible just a few years ago. |

Re: What must be done to legalize drugs?
There are far more drugs that could be legalized before amphetamines. Amphetamines is probably not ever going to be legalized. How did swiy go from legalizing marijuana straight to amphetamines, there are addicts, that is probably going to be the arguement in this one. Smoking marijuana is one thing but staying up for days doing amphetamines is dangerous and isn't what the society needs/is ready for.
Alot of this is what is beleived by the system, marijuana being a gateway drug and thats one of the fear mongring ideas behind the legalization in the first place. "Smoke marijuana and youll be doing meth in no time." This is not the case. If someone smokes marijuana and then does ecstasy or amphetamine this person was just starting low. It didn't matter if it was a cigarette a dip of chewing tobbacco or a beer, taking amphetamine or herion or etc drug next was this persons mentality, marijuana didn't change them into wanting to take meth or etc they were going to do it anyway. A true cannabis smoker smokes marijuana because he/she enjoys it, or for theraputic reasons. Most people who's D.O.C is marijuana usually stick to smoking marijuana and do not leave the bounds searching for "harder" drugs. On the other hand, people just looking for a buzz who happen to smoke marijuana as a first buzz will venture for a "harder" buzz. In swim's opinion, legalizing marijuana should NOT be a step toward legalizing meth at all. Last edited by purplehaze; 27-12-2007 at 15:39. |

Re: What must be done to legalize drugs?
I personally believe that all drugs should be made legal, and that Med MJ is the first step in this process.
I think its weird that someone would want amphetamines to be the next logical step after marijuana... I think the change must happen slowly, because the American people and people in general are to slow to accept fast change. The order will probally be something like: Marijuana, hallucenogens (mushrooms, lsd, Rc's etc.),amp, cocaine, heroin, meth |

Re: What must be done to legalize drugs?
Dumb, if you ask me to say the next step would be cocaine or mushrooms. stimulants have been taken for ever , the african people during times of famine have eaten hoodia for its hungar and energy, not tripping on shrooms.
I didnt say stay up for days, mearly like some drink coffee like alfa, I suggest a little something a little stronger. thats all . Thank you for the input , but don't take it too extreem |

Re: What must be done to legalize drugs?
Again, I think that all drugs should be legalized right now, this moment. I don't think it should happen in a gradual change, but if that is whats going to have to happen, then it must.
The American public is so scared of meth/amphetamine abuse, it would not work to legalize it after marijuana. Mushrooms and LSD arn't a big deal at all. Cocaine is the softest of the hard drugs. Heroin/Meth compete for the top, but alot of Americans think meth comes out on top forshure. |

Lsd is not ever going to get the thumbs up, remember in school, those pictures and films of kids jumping off of buildings thinking they could fly?
It is sterotyped in the brain of many old timers, |
