Worst Comedown Ever

Guys, SWIM is a proponent of adderall. He feels it helps him in his day-to-day activities and becomes much more productive when on it. However, SWIM recently crossed his threshold into what he would consider "Abusing" adderall, although this was by accident. He had crushed up a few XR 10 mgs and taken them at 9:00 at night to study. He planned to get to bed by 1:00 AM. He thought he only crushed 2, but actually later realized it was 3 that he crushed. He had the most hellacious night, could not get to sleep, and was forced to live the amphetamine comedown while wide awake until 5 AM. 30 mg at once when his average dose was 20mg spread out over an entire day.... SWIM shudders to think about what happened to his dopamine and norepinephrine stores.

Whew. It's all good now. SWIM just had a very, very bad night, and felt very sick. He's not sure why he had such a bad experience with adderall, as up to this point, he's been a very common user (not heavy, just small 10-20 mg xrs for academic performance). I guess the combination of crushing the XRs, taking them so late, and getting into an argument with his wife all culminated in a bad experience for SWIM.

It seems that SWIY has a very great sensitivity to amphetamine.

SWIM has found that amphetamines potentiate anxiety if SWIY is prone to it. SWIM has, on more than one occasion, had heart palpitations, increases heart rate, and an uncomfortable feeling because of those side effects. The uncomfortable feeling soon turns into panic because SWIM isn't sure if he should be feeling the way he does. It doesn't happen often, but he has definitely been in the same boat as you. Now that he is prescribed Klonopin for anxiety it really doesn't happen at all if he takes that medication. Adderall raises the blood pressure and increases the heart rate so that coupled with an argument and a higher than normal dose can certainly cause a panic attack.

Yeah, Adderall can be a badass comedown. Glad that I'm not messing with it anymore...

I would argue that the crash from Crack or high doses of DXM is much worse than any amphetamine crash. Amphetamine crashes can be pretty harsh on some people though I guess.

Adderall can have a very nasty comedown if you let it, SWIM has been using adderall xr pretty heavily 200-400mgs for a given 24hrs for him to get going the way he likes to. SWIM said he noticed more of a crash type feeling if he took a large starting dose and didnt continue to lengthen the amp by taking smaller doses until it wears off, otherwise he thinks its not to bad but could be worse

the first time my freind took aderall, it was 80mg and he weighs 115lbs. he took it around 9am and by 4-5 am he was laying in his bed sick as hell, but couldnt fall asleep. from how he described it, it was terrible, and making aderall a turn off.

Not a surprise really. 80mg is a large dose for SWIM and he's been prescribed 60mg a day for over a year now. The most he's ever taken at once was 40mg, but has taken 120mg+ in a night when he studies. However the dosages are staggered. I wouldn't feel safe taking 80mg at once and I weigh twice what your friend weighs.
