hi all.
swim is considering complaining about her most recent visit to the doctors, swim had to see an emeregency doctor because her doctor was on holiday. anyway swim normally get a bottle of 56 remadine forte(dihydrocodeine 30mg + paracetamol) and this helps take away pain in swims legs and back and arms, it also helps swim sleep because she gets this weird surging, throbbing pain all over her body at night which makes her want to move) anyway, swim went to doctor asking for refill, simple. this doctor read her medical records becuase she was horified to see i was on said pain killers. she saw that swim had missed some rumatology appoinments, and said your not helping yourself by not going. so swim explained that she has been to a ciropractor, rumatologist on many occations and was fed up. doctor then said well i will give you some anti imflamatoiries, some paracetamol and a refural to the rumatoligist but that is it. after despritally asking doctor for her usual perscription on the basis that this doctor wasnt her usual doctor so surely she cant take my medication away, she said fine i will give you 30 tablets and if your not happy then speak with your usual doctor(who isnt due back untill january) wtf, is she allowed to do that? swim wants to complain, do you think swim should? swim dosnt want to be seen as a complainer and then have no doctor help her. also whenever swim sees a new doctor they ask how many tablets swim take in a day. swim takes 3-4 as 2 dont actually work. is this the right answer, should swim say she takes more so it seems like swim needs more, or less so swim dont seem like an addict, whats the right answer to that question. thankyou all

Re: Whats the right answer? and how to complain.
It's unlikely that SWIY is going to get a good answer, as the questions asked are on the very edge of what the site rules allow.

Re: Whats the right answer? and how to complain.
what you mean? swim hasnt asked how or where to get drugs.
swim is simply asking how to complain about a doctor and if asked how many is a good answer to say. whats wrong with that? |

Re: Whats the right answer? and how to complain.
Yes, the doctor is allowed to treat Swiy in the manner that she sees fit, regardless of whether or not she is a fill-in doctor. At the end of the day she is responsible for any decisions she makes about a patient, not the doctor that Swiy saw before her. Some doctors prefer therapy of some kind over drugs and she must be one of them.
Regarding what to tell your doctor; Swiy should just be honest with them. If you take 3 or 4 pills because 2 don't work, then tell them that. If it's the truth and your doctor believes you then he/she will do what it takes to correctly manage the problem. If Swiy is not convinced that they are taking his complaint seriously then Swiy should ask for a referral to a pain specialist or simply find another doctor. |

Re: Whats the right answer? and how to complain.
The kid around the corner has found that "fill-in" doctors seem to be more lenient than the "regular doctor" and as such finds your situation "odd".
None the less, TKATC wanted to convey that honesty is the best policy. A "good doctor" knows that physical dependance is not the same as addiction. Your regular doctor should know you best. To ensure you get the quality care you desire (or pay for) you must start with the truth. |

Re: Whats the right answer? and how to complain.
Swim woudn't make a official complaint just wait untill normal gp is back and talk to him/her. Could be a good idea to say that swiy feels as she was treated as a junky! And thought about going to hospital. They usually dont like that as it comes back to the surgery.
If swiy is happy with her gp, Dont piss them off! |

Re: Whats the right answer? and how to complain.
well swim recently saw her new doctor and he took her off the dihydrocodiene and put her on acupan, even after swim insissted that she wasnt an addict.
after a week on acupan and swim feeling like shit, with headaches and nausea and no pain relief, swim made a big disition to go all the way back to her old sergary and talk to her old doctor. instead of her normal old doc, swim saw a new doctor who is actually swims registered doctor and he was very understanding, he didnt say the word addiction once, instead he was honest and stated we dont like to give out opioids because they are habit forming and can be sold on the streets. after swim explaned that she had been on her drugs for sevral months but hadnt upped her dose atall, the doctor aggreed that dihydrocodiene plus a rematology appointment is best. he said that if these work and your not taking 8 a day then there isnt any problem. its been a long battle, but hopefully all will be ok now. hopefully. |

Good for Bloodred hope things will get better for swiy. Swim is bulding up his tramadol and will see his doctor in a few months and see what he gets next. Will let swiy knows how he gets on.
