First Time Use- Have a few questions :)

So, mesc has been chosen as SWIMS first time psychedelic and needs help on where to go from there. Here is what I have to go on.

SWIM has decided to go with either:
T. pachanoi - San Pedro
T. peruvianus - Peruvian Torch

Now I have questions about those.
1) SWIM lives in Canada- what are the laws regarding these two plants? Are they available to buy at a gardening store? What kinds of stores sell them? Home Depot or would SWIM go to some sort of nursery? (never bought plants before :P so SWIM is not sure where to go)
2) Which one would you suggest? Is there any advantage to using one or the other?
3) How long should the cactus SWIM buys be? IE. how many feet of cactus would be one trip?
4) SWIM will probably make a tea. Would this be as simple as taking off the harder outer layer (perhaps removing some sort of inner spine? don't know what cacti really look like inside) and boiling the fleshy stuff inside. How long does SWIM boil it for? 1 hour? After that, does SWIM take the sludge and ring it through a T-shirt? And with the stuff SWIM strained through a T-shirt, is that good to go or should SWIM repeat the process with boiling a few more times? How many more times?
5) How many cups of the tea should SWIM drink?

Sorry, I have one more question. On Wikipedia it states



Mescaline is listed as a Schedule III controlled substance under the Canadian Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, but peyote is specifically exempt.



Does this mean Peyote is an option for me too? Would I be able to buy it at the same stores? And is the preparation of peyote any different?

Swim has a lot of the same questions.

He tried to boil the skin of san pedro but was 9 inches enough for a trip at all?
He said he felt "funny", but that was all.

1- It appears that possession and sales of San Pedro and related cacti are not prosecuted in Canada. If they are dried or otherwise prepared for use, they would likely be considered mescaline-containers and would be prosecuted under the 2001 Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (which replaced the older Narcotics Control Act) in which mescaline is listed as a schedule III drug. Please see Peyote Law, Canada for more information.

2- T. peruvianus would be the better choice as it has a general higher % mecaline than T. pachanoi.

3- If buying fresh cactus, then swim belives around 12'' is the starting size from an average potency catus. Swim isnt 100% sure tho as he buys dried cactus.

4- There are lots of topics on how to make a tea here on drugs forum or on erowid.com. Swims not made the tea but roughly you remove the spines and core, keeping the green inner layer of skin. Boil it for an hour then let it simmer for about 6, adding the juice of 2 lemons to it slowly. Strain out the crap then enjoy the tea. Again Swims just remembing roughly what he has read, swiy would need to look into it in greater detail.

5- Swiy would need to drink the entire pot, unless it was made for more than one person.

As for peyote, leave it alone. Its an endangered species and is a very slow growing cactus, taking around 10 years to get to an edible size. Stick to the san pedro or peruvian torch

That's peyote, but do you have a source for San Pedro?

San Pedro would most likely be treated exactly the same because they are both cacti that are legal to have. The corresponding erowid page(http://www.erowid.org/plants/cacti/cacti_law.shtml) says this:

I also found this:

from http://canada.justice.gc.ca/eng/pi/r...-qr02_2/a.html under Schedule III. This passage almost sounds to me like eating Peyote would be ok but taking the chance of getting in trouble isnt a great idea. Plus like kakakaka said it should be left alone.

Basically, there doesnt really seem to be anything specific about any cacti other than Peyote. So if one were to be preparing their cactus in a tea or some other way they should hope the police dont come busting in on them. Hope this helps
