It's certainly a powerful psychedelic drug. A very different and rare one. Most people find the visual and body effects bare some similarities to LSD but are alot smoother, but there are some very noticeable differences. Read up a little more about it on the forum or www.erowid.org for some trip reports. Do SWIY's research.

300-400mg is around the normal dosage. SWIY could take a lower dose if he is a little apprehensive.

Mescaline is a lot smoother than the other typical psychadelics, but SWIM finds that it is oddly a lot more immersive and the hallucinations/out of body experiences are a lot more vivid.

My friend who knows about these things says that he recommends one use a half dose for their first experience and set aside plenty of time away from anxiety-inducing people places and situations.

I don't know about the half dose but I assume he says that due to an experience of an accidental extremely high dose using t. peruvianus. Potency varies with cacti so perhaps if one had available the pure chemical one could avoid such a situation.
