Confused: Does Boiling San Pedro reduce Potency?

Boiling the cactus appears to be the preferred method, but I read in a post somewhere that it destroys some of the active alkaloids (or reduces the potency in some other way). Is this true? If so, I'm surprised it's such a popular method.
Is there a recommended method for consumption preparation which requires neither boiling, eating it raw or chemical extraction? Like say drying it to give a powder and consuming this with a liquid?
Some tips on drying would be great, i.e. oven temperature and duration.
Thanks!

Below 300 degrees Fahrenheit shouldn't destroy too much of it. Heat can destroy them, but the mescaline alkaloids are a bit hearty. 350 is the point that it'll carmelise.. so I'd keep it below 300.

Swim has the same question.

He once cut off 9 inches of skin off of a san pedro cacti, boiled them in water for 45 minutes, then strained and drank the liquid. Not a lot happened, he said.

Swim wonder's why?

Could have been a week cactus or even swiy has a slightly higher tolerance than normal.

Two people who aren't me tried it, and it had the same effects on both of them. I don't think it could be a tolerance issue, he might have just prepared it wrong.
