How addictive is Meth? More pleasurable than Coke?

Has anyone been addicted after the first time SWIY takes it?? is it more addictive depending on the intake of the drug (snorting vs injection vs oral)? How long does the high of a typical dose last? Is it more pleasurable than Coke?

SWIM heard that meth is one powerful psycho stimulant and is highly addictive drug. The high is way more powerful and superior than the high coke gives you and the high also lasts a lot longer. Meth is also cheaper than Coke and people refer to it as "poors man coke" Meth however is something SWIM wouldn't fuck around. It eats SWIM alive, giving SWIY "meth mouth" (rotten teeth, teeth falling out, holes etc.) makes SWIY eyeballs sink in your skull, and makes SWIY a skeleton in short amount of time.

Cheaper in price in some areas, perhaps. Not in the NE US. The further south and west you go, the lower the price. The lower the quality (purity), the lower the price (unless you get ripped off on both, which isn't uncommon with meth, IMHO). Pound quantities can be as low as 40% and usually no higher than 60%, unless SWIY gets "ice." Meth is usually cut with MSM, but sometimes inositol, mannitol, ephedrine, lactose, etc. As for addiction, like every drug, it depends on the individual. If you want my opinion, don't touch this stuff. Trust me, you won't regret it...

The only real experience with meth I have is through bunk ecstasy pills. I have done quite a bit of optically pure amphetamine though...

My friend SWIM lives in the meth capital of the world i hear, Kern County in SoCal Calif. He says he's only sampled meth a few times. Both nasally and didnt enjoy it much. He smoked it once but was already drunk ended up blacking out for 4 hours while puking most of the time he hears. Luckily the alcohol was going in full force or he fears he would have enjoyed the rush of smoking it much better than snorting. SWIM will stick with coke any day over meth.

Although this story was about injecting meth, all forms of meth can be equally as addicting. Meth is definitely something swim recommends swiy staying away from, because there's many other assortments of uppers that can be extremely fun but not as addicting. Swim has always thought of meth as one of the drugs that "lower class" people use, and swim personally has no interest in being known as "lower class" material.

Some of his rants are thought to have been from the effects of the meth. At one point, he was receiving injections of it 5 times a day. His troops were given speed and that played a big part in the Blitzkrieg. SWIM doesn't know about SWIY, but he doesn't want to have anything to do with Hitler (he killed many of SWIM's countrymen...).

YABA does not come from Japan at all and the Yakuza have no involvement with Yaba either. I lived in Japan for many, many years and met many yakuza, (a couple of whom remain good friends to this day) At one point I was living with a Yakuza guy's girlfriend but anyway, I digress..

Yaba is produced in Burma as a way of financing the rebel army (I believe its the rebel army may be the official army but I doubt it - a quick search will produce detailed info I believe) and is taken across the border into Thailand where it gets distributed throughout Asia.

Japan's MA is almost solely imported from Hong Kong, China and Korea. Japan has the highest in purity of MA of anywhere else in the world with purities of 95%, as such, it's known as Ice or Shabu and sold in small clear plastic packages of 0.2g.

MA is not physically addictive, it can be psychologically addictive though, as can be chocolate. However, there is so much bad misinformation that has been put out there so as to scare people away from it, that fact and fiction has become intermingled - leaving many untrusting and confused as to what is true and what is not. US sites in particular are very guilty of this.

In the UK there is very little MA as Amphetamine Sulphate is widely available and as cheap as hell;however, there has been tons of media scare stories this year regarding the rise of this 'new' drug. Truth is it has been in the UK before and widely in 77 when a sulphate shortage was experienced but when sulphate was back MA basically disappeared. Even a judge was heard to say that MA was more addictive than Heroin! this is absolute rubbish and is based on England hurriedly trying to get info on this 'new' drug and in the process a hell of a lot of misinformation is coming together with it which, in the long term, is of no help to anyone.

swim has been addicted to meth and RX amphetamines for many years(I.e dexedrine) swim no longer does them though. but swim can say from personal experience that meth is very physically and mentally addictive. swim found coke to be (talking from an ex-amphetamine addict) to be sub par to meth I.e the duration of the effects were just to short for swim. meth for swim at the beginning of swim's usage would keep swim up for a day or two with much mental and physical stimulation. although the comedowns for swim would make swim very depressed and would crave more and more leaving swim with a very bad and expensive habit after a while because for swim,,, tolerance becomes an issue very quick for swim. swim mainly smoked meth and would feel the effects within less than a minute. the duration of the effects can very from person to person depending on tolerance,, body chemistry and purity of the meth.

Comparing chocolate to MA is kinda wrong. You are just looking at the word psychologically addictive and not exploring it. Just because something is psychologically addictive does not mean that
1. all things are equally psychologically addictivwe
2. That it doesnt stem from biological roots (that is, while chocolate tastes good and releases some endorphins, MA causes your neurons to flood your system with neurotransmitters. and chocolate doesnt hijack your receptors and brain where as MA does.)
While I agree there is bad information especially since the US used MA for years as a weightloss tool and antidepressent and just recently they just started talking about the "bad effects" However, I think it would be ignorant to ignore the fact that alot of psychological addictions are much worse that physical addictions. When heroin addicts detox, they know how long they wont feel well. however, most of them are willing to go through that terrible ordeal again because of how strong the psychological addiciton is. Psychological addiction is hard due to its engrainment in the brain and how many learned factors go into it.

meth causes neurons to release a shitload of dopamine while cocaine causes cells to use dopamine already present (like ritilin). so the mechanism is different. meth directly causes stimulation to the pleasure center of the brain and causes stronger brain connections there. however, you have to keep using to maintain these connections (part of the addiction) when you stop, its probably really depressing because you brain is destroying all these connections. on top of probably setting in motion things if your predisposed to getting parkinsons disease.

cocaines effects= like 30 minutes
meths like 4-8 hours.

thats kinda the real addictiveness of cocaine. you keep needing more and more to get high immediately even when your just starting where as meth thats not the case. Meth mouth is kinda real but kinda not. It does dry out your mouth, so good oral hygeine is important as is the drinking of water and avoiding sugary carbonated beverages. the people shown tended to have used regularaly, drank nothing but like mountain dew and just entirely ignored their oral hygeine. so its kinda a concotion but possible. as for becoming a skelaton, i wouldnt say that. It was used as a diet pill and antidepressant for years. abuse because widespread but i mean so many people were using it in the 70s. if it were true to the extent of whats being said now than we should have a ton more people who have lost everything. thats not the case. Alot of people could use and deal. I know my pet rat hates stuff like that because he has adhd so the drug dulls him out. there is just alot of anti-meth movement from govt and addicts families alike. government= to control people which i cant figure out for the life of me why the feds concern themselves, its a state matter. and the families i can sympathize with. they just dont want anyone chancing turning out like there son/daughter/brother/sister/mom/or dad did. i can respect that.

coke isnt physically addictive either. and to add, i would have to say psych is harder to kick than physical and less destructive in some cases (not all). with psych, you have this uncontrollable urge to use and get more and not stop. physical you just dont wanna feel shitty. if you get the physical over with, its done. Psych comes after and thats the really hard one for heroin addicts and such. so i would say psychological addiction is much worse. meth and cocaine are not truely physically addictive. The only drugs that are are opiates and barbiturates. i forget about alchohol. But i know those two. and benzos. however, i think benzo users dont have such a hard time with psychological in the literature of case studies and such.

Amphetamines are more useful to swim, so they have a greater addictive potential. But cocaine is cleaner, more subtle and more rewarding. Especially the subtle part he likes, it is not overpowering. It just gives him the feeling, that everything he does, goes really well. Without a unnatural push. Swim thinks it depends on who is talking, what is more pleasurable.

To answer the original question:

Methamphetamine is highly addictive, anything that acts centrally on dopamine reuptake is addictive (psychologically I might add). Especially cocaine and methamphetamine. They are addictive whatever the MOA.

Methamphetamine causes more dopamine release than cocaine, so in that way it is more pleasurable than cocaine. There are other factors which I will not go into. Some enjoy cocaine more, some prefer amphetamines.

Length of effects of both depend on alot of factors including MOA, dose etc.

Just to answer someones negative comment.

2. While dopamine may be released both by chocolate and meth there is a huge difference in how they effect something. First off. Just because something acts on a neurotransmitter does not mean that "oh my we understand how the drug works" or else neuroscience would be a much easier field. Different brain areas, sub receptor types, hypothesis, neural circuits, systems and chemicals are involved. There are over 100 neurotransmitters. Its a very complex thing. So for someone to make a generalization that chocolate and meth are the same are generalizing wayyyyyy too much and leaving out wayyyyyy too many other things. While im unfamiliar with the mechanism of chocolate, I know part of it is a minor stimulant and works by releasing endorphins. Meth works by hijacking certain areas and causing a huge change in the brain. Neurons force themselves to flood the brain with neurotransmitters. These change perception, alter memory, cause pleasure, alter food intake and hunger, alter emotion to a sometimes extreme degree. In fact, if one does enough meth, they go into a psychosis where the symptoms are very similar to those suffering from positive symptoms of schizophrenia. So chocolate and meth the same? I think not. And I want to edit. There are highly varying degrees of psychological addiction. Cocaine= at the time due to its quick leaving of the brain, one wants more and more. The body doesnt rely on it but wants it very very badly. That is different than someone who craves chocolate. Ultimetely, they get full anyway and stop eating so the main reinforcement of chocolate is its delicious taste anyway. The main reinforcement for meth and coke is to get as high as you can and keep that high going. You dont get "full" you just eventuall crash or else you would keep using. So there are varying degrees of psycological addictiveness. And if you disagree with what one says, thats what the threads for you dont give out negative points just because you dont feel like backing up what you have to say.

Both chocolate, methamphetamine and cocaine stimulate the mesolimbic reward pathway.

Dopamine is released (particularly in areas such as the nucleus accumbens and ventral tegmental area) by naturally rewarding experiences such as food and sex.

Although chocolate releases nowhere near the amount of dopamine as methamphetamine and cocaine, they still work in much the same way. So they can be compared. The neurotransmitter dopamine is the main brain chemical associated with the sensation of pleasure. Normal life pleasure has been measured as generating around 100 units of dopamine, with sex being around 200 units, and cocaine being around 400 units of dopamine. Methamphetamine far exceeds this with between 1200-1250 units of dopamine being produced, flooding the mesolimbic reward pathways with supra-normal concentrations of the neurotransmitter.
