Would doing meth once completely destroy happiness forever afterwards?
Swim was told by a friend that once the initial high form Methamphetamine is felt, the desire for it never goes away. He said that the user never feels good again. Swim was told that the addiction never ever stops. Swim was just wondering if just doing it once (without having means of getting another hit) would permanently reduce pleasure from other things. Swim want to do it once and swim is confident that he can stay off of it forever after that one time. Just wondering if swim will be depressed or less happy forever afterwards.

Re: Would doing meth once completely destroy happiness forever afterwards?
If one has an extremely addictive personality, like Swiy's friend, life could definitely seem a bit dull after using such a substance. However, if a person does not have a trace of Hedonistic mentality within themselves, then life would be just fine afterwards. It really just depends on the person.

Re: Would doing meth once completely destroy happiness forever afterwards?
Same rumors circulate about heroin, cocaine, MDMA, etc, but meth addicts are notorious for being extremely difficult to keep clean (due to extreme psychological addiction). This can certainly happen if one has an addictive personality. The reason(s) for use also play a crucial role (e.g. if one takes something to escape reality).
A suggestion would be to use low doses or milder alternatives and try to control oneself. Precaution and a healthy amount of paranoia also help to control use. |

Re: Would doing meth once completely destroy happiness forever afterwards?
The major problem with (meth)amphetamine and numerous other stimulants is that they give an overwhelming sense of improvement and augmentation to ourselves and our performance abilities.
In SWIM's experience, that feeling of being "something better than I am normally," is the biggest contributor to addiction. SWIM doesn't find the euphoria particularly addictive, as much greater euphoria can be found in something as simple as a bottle of gin, much of the time. SWIM cautions SWIY, if deciding to use, to only do it on special occasions. The majority of SWIM's problems with stimulants are when it comes down to day-to-day matters like work, school, and social settings; where he doesn't feel quite as adequate without his stimulants. Hope this was of some sort of help. |

Re: Would doing meth once completely destroy happiness forever afterwards?
If SWIY, at any time, questions his or her self control, (which is definitely a good thing, and may be indicated by the fact that this post even exists) SWIY should have a trusted friend make sure that they don't try it a second time.
P.S. Maybe watching the film "Spun" first would help.

Well, you never will forget the feeling fhat you get from some substance. As for SWIM, I haven't doing amphetamine for a long time (for about 3months), but sometimes I still think how grate the amph high is. It has something mystical on it, it feels like none can stop you. But well, I still can be clean, maybe taking some good ol' speed at new year (8

Re: Would doing meth once completely destroy happiness forever afterwards?
From SWIM's experience - no - one time won't permenantly make it impossible to enjoy things ever again. SWIM tried it a few times and never really got all that into it and has no desire to do it again - and yet SWIM is perfectly able to enjoy all manner of life's wonders.
The danger is that it is a seductive and addictive drug and SWIY may thing, "well, that was fun...once MORE can't hurt..." and then before SWIY knows it, things have spun spun spun out of control. Be careful out there. |
