seperating codeine

hello everyone...im new here, glad to have joined
i have a simple question, hoping you guys have a defenite answer for it:

i got a cough syrup for the codeine in it...but it also has diphenydramine in it and im not interested in the latter. so i was wondering, is there anything i can do to seperate the codeine from the other chemical, so im left with the codeine? i

thought that there may be a way, because i know you can seperate dxm from the other things in dxm cough syrups. (well, i heard you can do that).
