Is this persons swim's friend?
Swims closest friend of two years and his cousins husband have both struggled with opiate addiction together.Swim's friend was kicked out of his methadone maintenance program.Tonight he stole ten ativan (lorazepam) from his wife and then tried to blame it on swim. What should swim do?How should he confront him.Swim reallizes he is dealing with withdrawal right now and knows the state of total need that puts one in so he has some sympathy yet at the sametime why would he try to get swim in trouble like this? What should swim do?

Re: Is this persons swim's friend?
swiys friend will do ANYTHING to help his withdrawal as i'm sure swiy knows. methadone is nasty as is buprenorphine believe it or not (swim is on it). the withdrawals last a really long time for both these drugs because of their active life. swim personally would rather suffer heroin withdrawals any day of the week. what swim is trying to say is he understands what is going on. as for swiys friend, the easiest way to avoid consequences was to blame swiy. if swiy is actually a good friend then he would have tried to put the blame on anyone else around if he could but it seems that swiy was the best/only scapegoat to use at the time. this is just what addicts do. but regardless of, swiy was not the one who took these pills and it isn't right for swiys friend to do that. if this happened to swim, swim would confront swims friend and tell him swims feelings about what he did and make him realize what he did was wrong and needs to confess to his wife what is going on. if swiys friend does not want to do this then swiy should probably tell the wife himself as it is not right swiy is being blamed for something he didn't do. swim understands both sides and one will ususally do ANYTHING in withdrawal to not feel so incredibly awful but still swiy needs to stick up for himself. but this is just swims opinion and im sure this has crossed swiys mind but hopefully it helps. good luck!

Re: Is this persons swim's friend?
Swim has been in his friends situation before so he is somewhat understanding but he could have found another scapegoat.Or he could start being a man and not living in terror of his wife.Swim wants to confront him but he is angry right now.Should he remain this persons friend?Swims cousin and his friends wife says no.

Re: Is this persons swim's friend?
Perhaps swiy should tell the wife whats going on. and perhaps she'll understand. swim thinks relationships are nothing without honesty and communication. Swiys friend will see sence of it all soon enough

Re: Is this persons swim's friend?
As shitty as it may be, personal friendships don't mean shit to the dopesick junkie. Swim has stolen from pretty much everyone close to him (only when he was sick though) and some have forgiven him, some have not. Swim finds that when he has a good score (say, enough to last 2-3 days), stealing and fucking people over is the farthest thing from his mind, and when he thinks about all the shit he's done, he feels terrible.
But that dope doesn't last forever, you know. Anyways, swim has always taken full responsibility for his (ignorant) actions, unless he can find an unliked scapegoat, of course... but, no matter what a junkie says, if he was in any position to benefit in anyway towards a good cause, he did whatever needed to be done, regardless of consequences. period. |

Re: Is this persons swim's friend?
Swim does understand why this was done but swims friend could have found another person to blame. There were many times when swim could have used his friend for blame but didn't because swim isn't like that.
