im constantly seeing users in this sub-forum incriminating them selfs,i dont see any difference in self incrimination on this sub forum then any of the other ones.just wanted to remind everyone that the rules still apply to this forum.

My friend says it's best to practice speaking in third person everywhere on DF, even in the forums that aren't necessarily about acts of an illegal nature. This way Swiy will get into a habbit of always using this method to post, and therefore will never self-incriminate.

I am not sure how sober ex-users explaining their personal path to recovery is in any way self-incriminating. Please explain.

BTW - I don't need "practice". Stories about current and past use are always "shared" in 3rd person in other forums on this site.

It is describing participating in illegal activities, be they past or present. It is still self incrimination, and is not allowed.

After a month of swimming Alf noticed that using "I" seems more and more strange to him. He wants to swim in his daily correspondence, and his inner talk swims while he's planning future or recalling past activities. Now, maybe there is nothing really wrong with that but... referring to oneself in third person is quite typical for various egomaniacs and big-heads. And this may actually be the only downside of swimming: if SWIY involuntarily refer to SWIUrself in third person people may think "what a pompous jerk!"

I just thought I'd bring this to everyone's attention, and remind people that the same goes for prescribed drugs such as methadone or buprenorphine.
