Crushing codeine

SWIM needs some help. SWIM always has a hard time breaking all the pills up for a CWE. what would SWIY use from around the house to get the job done?

My Ferret usually buys capsules as opposed to pills, cos obviously he doesn't need to crush them and they don't have any fillers. But when he does get pills he uses a garlic crusher to break them up, works pretty well if swiy has one lying around.
Otherwise he folds them up in a sheet of paper and bashes them with a hammer does the job too

Swim discovered that putting pills in an envelope, folding it over, and then using a large rolling pin, he was able to crush the pills into a powder with no mess or loss.
I takes all of 30 seconds.

SWIM places two pills in a spoon and then puts another spoon over top and applies pressure.

SWIM likes to use her mortar and pestle.

Swim's puppy breaks each pill in two and lets them dissolve in the water for 5 minutes. He finds that the powder can be hard to mix sometimes.

Does your dog do this with pills containing APAP as well ?

Yes, yes he does. Swim's puppy finds this works well with all codeine containing pills.

SWIM uses the 2 spoon method to crush a pill, it works just fine!

Swim also uses a mug and crushes the tabs with the handle of a Table spoon .

SWIM just uses 1 spoon and pushes down onto a desk or table. (Ontop of a piece of paper)

This could be a bad technique for certain shaped pills.

My pet iguana likes to use a zip lock small baggy and puts about 10-15 pills in there and then has this paperweight that is like 5 pounds with a flat bottom and just pounds the pills in the baggy.. Iguana says that he loses no powder or anything and also gets the pills to powder form rather than just broken little pieces.. this way when he mixes the water it basically only takes a quick stir and into the fridge..

hmmmm... when SWIM tries said method above, he gets little holes in the baggie from sharp pieces of the pill and he always gets powder leakage. This it with a flat, heavy rounded object being used to crush to. Guess SWIM is just unlucky

SWIM used to put them in the water whole, then crush them in there by poking around with a spoon. Now SWIM bought a mortar and pestle, which makes the job much easier.

...use a flat btm glass and a flat glass dinner plate...lay 2 or 3 pills on plate and twist btm of glass while pressing down on tablets...always works fine for SWIM...

I heard Somebody on here say that they just put the pills into an empty pill bottle then break them up as best as possible, but then add the correct amount of water then just shake the shit out of it until its just mixed.. Not very scientific, but morelike something Swim would try. !

Does nobody else find that powdered pills are hard to mix with water? Noddy finds that it tends to foam up and the powder forms clumps.

I've just tried many methods of crushing, and to whoever suggested to put them in an envelope and use a rolling pin, thanks. That was soooooo much easier then my previous attempts (I was using a hand operated pill crusher, good for 1 or 2 pills only), I crushed 25 pills up in A LOT quicker time then just 5 the other way.

And tortoise, what do you mean by powdered pills? I'm from the same country as you, and noticed from another post that I bought the same tabs as you (chemist's own 10/500 pcm). Do you personally crush these up, or just put 'em in the water? I crushed them (obviously)
