THC extraction through vaporization?
Hypothetical question. Swim was thinking one day, and he started to wonder.
Would it be possible to throw some bud into a vaporizor and then once the THC is vaporized, get it to condense onto a cold surface, kind of like what water and steam does. Swim has very little knowledge in chemistry and the like, so he doesn't really know how far fetched this is. Has anyone tried it? Is it practical? Is it possible? |

Re: THC extraction through vaporization?
Swim doesn't think THC will "condense" like a bowl of left over steamed carrots in the refrigerator. THC has more of a glue property than anything swim has ever seen condense. Most likely it would stick, and then have to be scraped off to be gathered. The only way swim would visualize this would be to keep vaporizing the MJ and plugging up all vent's and letting the vapor thicken and thc would fall from the vapor because of it's weight and stick to the inside of the device, most likely the entire device would be "coated" with golden sticky oil eventually and then could be gathered.
The yield of this? In Swims head not much, probably wouldn't even be worth trying. BTW swim isn't sure this is the answer you were looking for but he figured he'd give his 2cents on swiy's thought tangent lol. |

Re: THC extraction through vaporization?
Don't think it'll condense either otherwise swim's windows would be yellow from condensation.

Re: THC extraction through vaporization?
Though swim has never performed exactly this procedure, he may have a word of insight. After reading a NORML studying explaining that the remnant resin on the inside of Volcano vaporizer bags is upwards of 90% a combination of psychoactive cannabinoids (Delta-9-THC, 11-OH-THC, and CBN/CBD), he decided to take his next oily old bag and, after placing a new one on the bowl, washing the old one out with ethanol, evaporating, and enjoying the fruits of conservation. After several attempts, he has now (tentatively) perfected the science of this extraction, and yields a dark, ultra-potent 'goo', that rivals most any concentrate he has made or gotten through prescription cannabis dispensaries. If swiy has a Volcano, try washing the bag and 'bowl' with the following procedure*:
-Empty out and dismantle all pieces. Remove any visible 'flecks' of cannabis, dry or fresh. -Once only resin remains on the various pieces, place them in a drinking glass. -Take approximately half of the drinking glass worth of ethanol, and pour it in the bag. -Quickly (as the volatile ethanol and plastics will eventually react) spread the ethanol evenly about the bag, before bunching up the top, and slowly draining the ethanol into the glass, covering the disassembled pieces of the bowl and delivery system. (Try to constrict outward flow towards the mouth area where the resin is most concentrated) -Swirl and let sit for an hour or so. -Strain and evaporate. *These are rough instructions and may be modified, but the general principle yields a high-potency cannabinoid resin with quality smoking potential. |
