Question Hypochondria - Are you sure it's the drug?

With all of the drugs out there, I'm sure people trying new drugs approach the high with certain expectations either based on hypothesis or supposed experience via friends. How can one really be sure of the side effects of a drug? In one instance, a person who smoked cannabis quite often decided for some random reason to smoke and then completely forget about the drug while in the high. They made it a priority to not think about how the drug changed them. In conclusion, the person found that the only noticeable side effect was euphoria, and his friend telling him that no matter what kind of gibberish the friend spit out, the person would respond as if the friend was actually making sense. All the feelings of relaxation, laughter and others were absent when a complete non-hypochondratic state was achieved. Excused the awkward and perhaps fabricated terms, I couldn't find a more efficient way to explain it.

Re: Hypochondria - Are you sure it's the drug?

There is definitely a certain amount of placebo effect that happens whenever someone does a drug, but I think the amount of placebo effect really depends on the person. SWIM has had many experiences where he has been told he'll feel one thing and when he actually does the substance he feels and does something entirely different. It really depends on how suggestible the user is in the first place

An important thing to remember is that every drug effects every person differently, if you keep that in your mind over anything else you're expecting you can severely reduce placebo like that.
