Mepyramine (INN, also known as pyrilamine)is a first generation antihistamine, targeting the H1 receptor(A histamine H1 antagonist). It is used in over-the-counter combination products for colds and menstrual symptoms. It has mild hypnotic properties and some local anesthetic action
Side effects may include sedation/drowsiness, muscle weakness, and insomnia.
- you may get drowsy
- excitability may occur, especially in children
- alcohol, sedatives, and tranquilizers may increase drowsiness
- avoid alcoholic drinks
- be careful when driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery
