Culture - Stupid kids on youtube are part of the problem

Have any of you seen all these kids on youtube on everything from salvia to dxm acting ignorant?For example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOgLZ...eature=related this really angers swim!If anything makes drugusers look like we are all uneducated and everything the government says we are it is this kind of thing.It also gives substances that have legitamite use for spiritual exploration get a bad name.That video alone could make dxm become prescription only!It also makes one ask why entheogens sometimes draw such utterly stupid people?Anyways this just upsets and angers swim?Do any of you feel the same way?

There was a thread similar to this in the Salvia section a short while ago, specifically about salvia though ( obviously ) not DXM. Consensus was similar to yours. It really pisses my ferret off!!

Its not even just salvia it is most substances you can think of.Swim did see a few videos on salvia that intelligently documented the salvia experience and were pretty interesting for swim as he has never tried salvia but for the most part it was people making fools of themselves.These videos are just more ammunition for the stupid little anti psychedellic campaign that wants to ban anything that gives one a transcendent experience,and it is clear the kids in these videos are not using these substances for the right reasons or in a responsible way.The fact that in a large percent of the dxm videos the people are using coricidin is disturbing enough.

coricidin... really? idiots. Darwinism will take care of them, but the problem remains that when the kill themselves through their idiocy we will be left to deal with the sanctions imposed.

The thing that has struck me recently, because of youtube and general observations, regarding salvia use, is that these stupid videos DO, for the most part represent the general trend of the use/abuse of the drug.

Everytime my ferret goes into his local headstore for a "nose around", which is frequently enough, he sees the transactions happening, monetary and "intellectual"; some burnt out dumbass behind the counter, and another dumbass on the other side of the counter, discussing salvia, terms such as "like LSD" popping into the conversation, as the customer buys a 20X vial for his/her first time to "get fucked up".

Maybe My Ferret is just cynical, but it seems that these videos do represent the majority of users.

Wow the headshop near swim doesn't even sell salvia it is fortunately swims source of nitrous oxide.Yes coricidin is one of the reasons why dxm is gaining such a bad reputation,well the idiots that use coricidin for a dxm experience anyways.Swim guesses he better try salvia soon before prohibition makes it difficult to obtain no thanks to these morons on youtube.

people stop the ideas of darwinism by donating to the poor and helping the handicapped, so we're shooting ourselves in the foot. and I started that thread, and I would still like to see just a little bit more participation on pumping common sense into these ignorant children's head. By putting these videos on, they're bragging right into a politician's face "hey look how fucked up I am" wich translates to the bloosucker- hey, we can make this illegal and make some money!

kids do a lot of stupid stuff, you can't change that it's just what they do. these days it is popular for kids to film themselves all the time which includes stupid stuff they do with or without drugs. i think you will have a hard time "pumping common sense" into them just for your own personal cause of not getting drugs criminalized.

He basically seems to mean that we should let the weak die so that the rest can live better. For example, imagine me banning newbies such as him so the moderators have less to worry about.

Agreed, it's really unfortunate. It reminds me of the commercials, it's always some kid trying to be cool and fit in, when in reality, that's NOT why they were used.

It's very common, or at least was, in many cultures, Jamaicans with Marijuana, Americans(The natives) with Tobacco, etc. The problem is however, it seems that a lot of people ARE doing it for the bad reasons. I find it funny how I hear about cocaine users complaining about feeling like crap. Well, if they weren't snorting 10 percent pure coke, they wouldn't feel like that, but they continue to do it. These kind of people take the spotlight for drug users.

Yep. It's too bad drug users are portrayed as addicts who need rehabilitation. Oh well, anything that is illlegalized will look bad, alcohol and tobacco are alright with society because of its legalization, when something is illegal, it does not jive well with society. There's always time however, just like with alcohol, it's found its way into American society, now it's all about captain Morgan commercials, not complaining about it(As much). Maybe, 50 years from now, prohibition for other substances will be less of a problem.

many people will take anything, a friend of my friend, would supposedly snort any pill you gave him, he even snorted a birth control pill. which is the most moronic thing i've ever heard, but sadly true...

Yeah, I don't see why some people(Idiots) just use anything, one should actually research something, read of it, and then, if interested, experiment. I can bet that if these kids tried cocaine, they wouldn't even know what the drug is for/does, they would just snort/shoot/etc. it. A person should look into something for a reason, not because, "It gets me high". They're all there for a reason, they all have their own specialty. Pain, depression, delusional thoughts, need for some spiritual/artistic expression, etc. Lots of different things to address, getting, "High" is such a broad term, that just getting high isn't something one should look for, but what that high offers you is what they need to look for. If you just got high, they'd all be the same drug, "Highs", but they're not just that, "High" is a category that contains so many things, but they seem to think that drugs are only about getting, "High", not about multiple kinds of them, just, "High". Which is far from the truth.

Swim believes that since most of the individuals posting these sort of videos are teenagers, meaning that their parents probably don't approve of this sort of thing, and are still willing not only to use a drug that they don't understand and could very well react very badly to, but also to film themselves for the world to see, they probably represent the lowest common denominator, so to speak, of drug users, and are not representative of users as a whole, but only the most uneducated and reckless of the lot.
