it's not happening, but it has happended. back when acid was still legal it was considered a bit of a breakthrough drug. and many psycho-analysists of varying stature used LSD in some of there sessions.

involved in MK ULTRA was directed towards reprograming of subjects [this was mostly done at the canada facility ] and adminestering lsd to mental patients without informing their doctors, or to unknowing civilians and military subjects. Yet another reason why we should all thrust the goverment blindly, they know what's best for us... ![]() |

There were two kinds of therapy. Psycholytic therapy...where a patient was gven a series of small doses of LSD as part of an extensive and on-going therapeutic regimen. Psychedelic therapy...where a large dose was given in the hopes of inducing a dramatic breakthrough. My understanding is that LSD therapy was discontinued because when it was made illegal it became too difficult to obtain even for medical research. Too many government hoops to jump through, paperwork etc. This is especially a shame because so much promise was shown. I too really liked 'Storming Heaven' by Jay Stevens. 'Electric Koolaid Acidtest' is a classic, of course. But if you are interested in LSD therapy itself, you might like "The Human Encounter with Death" by Stanislav Grof. Not sure if it's still in print, but it's excellent. |

lsd psychotherapy was indeed quite widely studied in the 1960's. most
studies, however, had only begun when lsd was criminalized and virtually all research using human subjects was forcibly terminated. one of the pioneering researches in this area is indeed stanislav grof, who supervised over one thousand lsd experiences in a therapeutic setting in czechoslovakia and the united states. grof's book 'lsd psychotherapy' is a very good description of the psychedelic therapy process and potential results (which appeared to be extremely promising, as in the work numerous other therapeuts as well). a new edition of the book was published in 1994 and should be easy to find. i can highly recommend this book as a groundsetting work on lsd psychotherapy. grof has also authored numerous other books on lsd psychotherapy, the psychedelic experience and the human mind and consciousness in general. |

yea, real promising stuff: fifty percent of hofmann's patients being treated for cronic alcoholism never drank another drink with a rip on the acid trip. but go figure, the government goes out of it's way to legalize the most dangerous drugs and percecute psychedelic psychoactives.

Didnt they also use E/MDMA in the "meetings" with the councelors where
the patients were undergoing theorpy and they could talk more about it when they were rolling... i swear i heard that, or am thinking things up (i'm sure i'm right) Muirner |

yea you are not making things up. psychologists have been researching mdma for twenty years or so. MAPS.org is a great place to research this topic. The Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studiesis a membership-based non-profit research and educational organization. They assist scientists to design, fund, obtain approval for and report on studies into the risks and benefits of MDMA, psychedelic drugs and marijuana[/B]. i can't wait till i can find twenty extra bucks to buy a student membership and support research for psychedelics! |

The goverment will only fund lsd research that will benefit chemical warfare...mind control. But lsd as therapy for suffering "patients," oh no, God forbid that. Timothy Leary conducted research with psyilocybin on inmates in the Concord prison. Forgot where exactly it was at....Massachusetts I believe.....correct me if I'm wrong. But he had a 75% success rate. |

Aren't there rumblings of using LSD in the same manner as Ibogaine to treat heroin addiction?

lsd : alcohol :: methadone : heroin; i believe so. using one substance to withdraw from the other seems illogical to some people, but ituses very few experiences (esp. lsd)with the treatment of the withdrawal drug (lsd and methadone) this leads to very high success rates tocuring alcoholism, an almost unheard of task until lsd psychotherapy was conducted. LSD therapy could also benefit world affairs and prevent wars. I mean would a dictator, king, president, or other political figure have the same ideals after an Awakening EGODEATH?

Re: lsd therepy
Is anyone familiar with Grof's Holotropic Breathwork Therapy. After the government clamped down on LSD therapy he and his wife developed this as an alternative, non-drug method that they claim brings about similar effects. It involves basically laying in a dark room with "evokotave" music playing and hyperventilating for like an hour or something. Then you talk about the experience, visions, insights, breakthoughs and draw mandalas. I've read his book that talks about it--The Adventure of Self Discovery: A New Cartography of the Human Psyche (or something like that)--but I loaned it to a friend a couple years back and that's the last I saw of it.
I respect his work and am very interested in it but, you know, this sounds a little flaky. I don't suppose anyone has tried this, gone to one of their workshops, or known anyone who has? |

Re: lsd therepy
although this is not exactly a therapy, swim has a friend with who he tripped just ONCE, and his friend was a strong smoker (of tobacco), and he tried to smoke during the trip but just couldn't, and never smoked a cig since then.
lsd was used to threat people who suffered alcoholism and other addictions, and had overwhelming good results compared to classical therapy. it had great effects on violent people, rude people, anxious people. there are studies on therapies in eastern countries, where terminal cancer patients where treated with LSD and lost their fear of their incoming, inescapeble dead and accepted their fate, and won new life quality for the rest of their life. there's a movie in the archive, "hofmann's potion", which contains a lot of information about Acid therapy, and also interviews with psychologists, researchers, doctors, including the mentioned stanislav grof and the godfather of acid, alber hofmann. and as the movie said - the first thing soldiers did after tripping on acid was... leaving the army! |
