RC side effects vs LSD
SWIM has a colleague who has engaged in several of years of RC research. From the early days of foxy and DPT to all the newly available shulgin substances, this individual has thoroughly tested the gamut of RC chemicals. Over the course of his investigative research, he has found that nearly every RC is accompanied by varying degrees of unpleasant side effects. Common symptoms include nausea, muscle and back aches, cramps, stomach aches, and mild to moderate headaches, as well as inferior psychedelic effects.
SWIM has reported that the Phenethylamines tend to exhibit categorically more toxic side effects than the tryptamines. Especially the 2C substances. For instance, insufflating a small amount of 2CB is almost intolerable because of the severe nasal burn. It is also very harsh on the stomach and digestive track. Another aspect SWIM has never heard discussed is the characteristically synthetic or "plastic" signature of the trip. At times it fells as if as polymer is sticking in the synapses... for lack of a better description. In the distant past SWIM had extensive experience with good pure LSD. LSD seemed to exhibit virtually no side effects... only good clean trips. Not to say the trip was always positive... bad trips did occur or rare occasion, but never the plethora of uncomfortable symptoms. Most importantly the lysergic psychedelic experience possessed a much more "natural" experiential signature. SWIM wonders what the primary reasons for these differences could be. Also SWIM is often confounded that the vastly inferior and more toxic RC substitutes have become so popular and available while the gold standard LSD is virtually impossible to find. They are virtually all illegal these days. curious, nite |

Re: RC side effects vs LSD
LSD does spoil one for other psychedellics. It has little in the way of physical side effects. Profound mental effects. Good visuals and for many auditory effects.
SWIM has found 2-ce to be a close runner up as far as mental effects are concerned, but there are many physical side effects. |

Re: RC side effects vs LSD
With substances that posses this sort of effects, I'm always a bit sceptical about the placebo-factor. LSD is well known, studied and almost a synonym to psychedelic. RCs have little if any research to back up there safety, mostly anecdotal evidence, so one might be paying more attention to the side effects. Though I agree that RCs have more side effects, paying or not paying attention to them can make a world of difference. Also I don't think they are inferior in effects. Though SWIM has never tried any of them, but he hears many consider some of them comparable to acid or even better. That's just my two sceptical cents.

Re: RC side effects vs LSD
there has been times when swim has taken 2c-b and 2c-i where there were basically zero unpleasant side-effects .. but that has been the case maybe for 1 in 5 experiences. The other times, there is some degree of muscle tension either in the back or upper neck, and sometimes a gurgly stomach - although 95% of the time this is just a minor annoyance.. 4-aco-dmt has been the only one swim has experienced no side effects whatsoever.

Agreed, 4-aco-dmt is free of any side effects for my dragon and his friends.

Re: RC side effects vs LSD
LSD gives SWIM rainbow-colored farts.
J/K. When a certain sea tortoise was a regular user of LSD (this being, oh, at least two statutes of limitations ago), he found stomach tightness (like having swallowed a volleyball) and jaw clenching to be a major part of any low-level trip (which was mainly what he got, the street acid he had connections for being weakly laid). Once the stakes got higher, however, the physical side-effects were obliterated by the immersive nature of the experience. Mushrooms gave the turtle nausea. 4-AcO-DMT gave him body-temperature issues (too hot, too cold, never just right, dammit where's Goldilocks when you need her?) but whether this was perception or actual temp. fluctuations he has never been able to determine. 2C-I has been reasonably light on his body. A little stimulating, perhaps, but as long as it's taken early enough in the day this doesn't present problems. It does, however, give him an unpleasant metallic taste in his mouth, like chewing on tinfoil. Bizarre. 2C-T-2 was physically the most unpleasant RC he's encountered (major stomach tightness, like having swallowed a volleyball made of piano wire), although he says the mental space was astonishing and made up for it. Not a party drug, however. 4-HO-MiPT reigns supreme as the compound he says had no discernible side effects whatsoever. Although one of his companions, the painted box turtle, had debilitating nausea throughout his sole experience, so YMMV. |
