how long does methadone stay in ones system?

Swim is starting to feel quite positive and is celebrating 4 wks of sobriety. Although Swim took 10ml methadone over the weekend. Swim done her (hopefully) final kick with the help of methadone for 4 days.

Does anyone know how long methadone stays in ones system?

also is there any other swimmers on this forum tring to stay opiate free and/or is succeding?

Methadone has a very long half life(the time it takes before half of a certain dose is broken down), and it builds up enormously over a long time on continues use. It can literally take weeks, before it's all cleared out of one's system. If it has only been used in one instance, instead of a long period, it will take about 1 or 2 days to clear it out.

There are several people on this forum trying to kick the habit, have a look in the addiction forum, there are enough people. Regarding the saying "once a junkie, always a junkie" SWIM thinks this is true for a large part, it's a mental thing. It will probaply be always nagging in the back of ones head, even after having quit the habit for a very long time. Many former addicts still think about it even after having quit a long time, and some relapse in difficult situations, knowing it can be their crutch for reality, or rather an escape.

I have been to a many meetings for recovery and have witnessed the transformation of many many IV users to non using and totaly clean citizens.

The "Once a Junkie , Always a Junkie" attitude is Wrong , Oh so very wrong.
In this Swim's life he has done his share of _____ and would never go back to using his arm for a pin cushion.

Just as I know others who too have done their share of ______ and they arent about to pin themselves down either.

Does that mean I don't smoke _____? or ______? No, it means that I can have fun and use ____ or ___, but will not stick a ____ in my vein.

how long does it take to build a tolerence to mephadone? swim had 'the chills' weeks after kicking H, and as far as im aware the physical symptoms of withdrawal subside after 4-5 days.

swij once took 40mg of methadone orally and had no withdrawals for three days, and the fourth day the withdrawals were very mild. So methadone does last a long time.
