Do they have to be Drug oriented or could they be write ups of about any book you have read?

As long as it is well written I don't see why it couldn't be about other subjects.

Re: Question about Genre of the book reviews.

I would say the books should have to have at least a slight tangency to drugs. For example certain medical books, books about mystical experiences, botany books, chemistry books, etc.

I'd wait for Alfa to confirm this though.

Re: Question about Genre of the book reviews.

Ahh...ya, I didn't mean so far as something like "a book about ford trucks", but was thinking more of "the classics" that have some type of universal meaning.

Book Review Outline

Hmmm...Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but...

Do you think it could be possible to get an outline for book reviews, similar to the drug experience outline we have? This could be helpful to some.

Re: Book Review Outline

I guess one should just describe it briefly and subtly persuade the reader into reading the book (if one doesn't think the book was worth reading one should make this clear in the review though). I don't think there should be any fixed outline for book reviews. Just imagine you're in high school and have to turn in a book report

I agree with trptamene, it would be helpful if there was an outline depicting a standard format for a book review. Currently, my book review looks like too much of a summary and I'm not sure how to get around this.

The book reviews section is also tricky to find, as it is a sub-forum in a sub-forum, so it doesn't appear on the main page.

Yay! I'll do all Harry Potter books! I'd really suggest waiting for Alfa to say something here before starting writing a book review.

Re: Question about Genre of the book reviews.

Book reviews should be done on drug related books only. If you wish to share a book review on a topic unrelated to drugs or you can do that in the "some for all" forum.

Re: Question about Genre of the book reviews.

What about books like Brave New World...not explicitly drug related...but them ppl sure got high..

I wouldn't mind reading people's reviews of books like these.

There are also all the HST books people could review.

You mean like it would just not be in the book reviews section?

You can post just about anything not against the rules in the Some for All forum. This includes reviews of random books you would recommend others to read.

EDIT: I would put Brave New World into the book review section, but I may be wrong.

Re: Question about Genre of the book reviews.

^^ Perfect explanation Paracelsus, the only thing I will add that I guess is unclear, the book review forum can include books that aren't centered around drug use but where there is enough drug use to make it applicable, and also books on consciousness and other similar topics that are closely related or intertwine with drug use to a huge extent.

If you are unclear about which forum to post your review you can ask in this thread, PM me, or post it in the book review section and I will move it if I think it really doesn't belong there.

All reviews in the book review forum should include in the review it's relationship to drugs.

Please also remember that I may not have read or even heard of the book you are reviewing so I would be basing my decision on which forum it belongs in almost solely by the review you have written.

Re: Drugs-Forum Book Review Info

I was just wondering how the amazon referrals work... I've placed links in my reviews, but I don't see anywhere in the posts or book review forums "Buy it from amazon!" or anything like that. Am I blind?
