Overdosing

Last week, it was Swim's friends 18th birthday. Everyone got pissed through the day for about 10 hours, alcohol being the only drug. Swim and his friends decided to go to a club in the city at about 10pm. Once they got there, swim bought 4 pills, 2 for him and 2 for his friend. They both dumped before they went in, and then again about an hour and a half later. All was good, until swim heard that his friend was OD'ing out the front...

Swim and about 10 of his friends went out the front, [This is a disturbing image but swim will say exactly what he saw] and saw their friend in the gutter, stiff as a board, back arched backwards really hard, all muscles on his body flexed tight as possible, and tears coming from his eyes. He was motionless, like he was stuck in this weird warped position. The only movement he made was a very deep breath every 20 seconds or so. The bouncers were extremely helpful, and called an ambulance which took him to the nearest hospital.

All who witnessed agreed it was one of the scariest things they had ever seen in their entire lives.

He got out of hospital the next day at 4pm, after having been on life support for around 6 hours. He was told that he was lucky to be alive, or not have brain damage. By monday morning he was out and about like normal again.

Swim and his friends doubted whether they would do pills again after seeing that happen, but last night (1 week later) everyone seemed to have gotten over it to a degree and pills were had at a club.

2 pills would normally not have this effect on Swim's friend. Swim suspects it was dehydration from the alcohol all day with no water. Any other theories of why it happened, or any other first hand accounts of an overdose feel free to post...

The only thing SWIM could think of would either be the alcohol, or an adulterant in the pill which your friend could have had an adverse reaction to.

"An MDMA overdose is characterized by: high blood pressure, faintness, panic attacks, and, in more severe cases, loss of consciousness, seizures, and a drastic rise in body temperature. MDMA overdoses can be fatal, as they may result in heart failure or extreme heat stroke. "

MDMA could have quite possibly caused this reaction, though a mixture is never a good thing. Most likely adulterants. MDMA deaths are very rare.

happened to a friend once, all i could do giving the giving situation was poor a 2 litre bottle of water in his gob/on him to cool him and and get him to try and relax as all his muscles were going ape shit, he cudn't move properly cos he was arched like a dinosaur! cramping up like a bitch! after 5 mins he was alright tho,, were these not just really strong pills? strong [pills + dehydration = not a very good thing at all.]

Never seen anything like this before, most likely something like PMA, a DOx substance or a dangerous combination in a pill. It is very unlikely for someone to suffer this reaction to MDMA and MDMA alone

Swim's positive there were MDA along with a hint of MDMA in those beanz.

Swims had had quite alot on that night, dumping 4 each to start with. this is when E's were actually good!!!!!

was an extremely trippy night tho, but i think thats just relative to the amount of mda ingested

My friend advises to go easy on the alcohol when possibly dropping. From his experiences, it's not a great combination.

It's potentially dangerous and one will loose ALOT more fluid if drinking alcohol on MDMA

SWIM has lost a few friends to X, I could go into detail, But i wont, Not very nice. All of which times was there own fault really, For simply takin to many of them, Espesicially the crappy pillz whats about these days. Dont make matters any better. Where SWIM lives the pilllz are deffently not MDMA which is what SWIM wants when he intends to buy a pill not MDA or all the rest of them. Pisses me off to maximum. greedy drug dealers putting peoples lives at risk just because their dumbness cant sysnth really xtc.

Sorry to hear of SWIY's loss. Taking to many tablets is reckless. Don't do this and remember to start low. It's better to take to little and for it not to be enough, than to take too much and realise its WAY TOO much for one to handle. Seriously even if ones tolerance is high. SWIY never knows what is in a pill, or the strength.

it would require a great deal more MDMA than you suggested (2 pills) to overdose. The MDMA LD50 is supposedly very high ("Downing notes that oral doses administered in therapy are less than 1 per cent of the LD50 (the dose that kills 50 per cent of rats or mice given the drug), implying a high margin of safety." - Taken from Erowid) A dose of two pills is highly unlikely to have contained more than 100 milligrams, which is way below any projected LD50. Having said that, different people react in different ways to the same drug - however, unless this was the first time your friend has tried MDMA at that dose, it is highly unlikley to have been MDMA caused. It may well be that the pill contained something like PMA (of which two pills could easily have been an overdose) or some other substance. De-hydration and over-hydration are the most common causes of ecstasy related death, so it may well be that your friend drank too much or too little.

Probaply too little, because alcohol dehydrates the body a lot already, but even more if a stimulant like MDMA is taken. A big no-no.
