Good Non-US Graduate Chemistry Schools
So I gotta figure out where I wanna go to grad school, I have a list of some in the states, but it occured to me this may be my chance to get the f*&# outta here...while there is still time.
Anyone know of some good international graduate programs in chemistry? In particular I am interested in natural product total synthesis with an emphasis on those that are biologically active, but natural product synthesis and other total synthesis (not-neccesarily biologically active) are nearly as good. They would need to be able to accomodate peole that only speak English as I suck at foreign language (but living in another country could help change that). If you have good non-english speaking schools feel free to post them here for general knowledge for the community, but they help me little. Those that were based in the region in or around the Netherlands would be especially nice... |

Re: Good Non-US Graduate Chemistry Schools
Well...it is too late for me to leave before another president decides to vomit on the world...but prolly headed to CA...so will be a nice change from TX and less push from fed gov.
This thread could be used to talk about grad schools in general, if ppl have ideas I can edit the OP to relate w/ this. hmmm..as far as good chem grad schools I found in the US the big names (w/ reasonable focus on total/biological synthesis) Harvard, Berkeley, Scripps, U Penn, along w/ some others on the top. Irvine has some good ppl and while Boston College is a small dept, but the large majority of the org prof's do this type of synthesis. |

Re: Good Non-US Graduate Chemistry Schools
Graduate schools aren't a term I've heard of before, but if I understand it correctly, it's the same as university? If so, the Leiden University is world renowned and has many different studies available, so plenty to choose. Organic chemistry, biochemistry, biofarmaceutical sciences etc.

University is always of "master" , or graduate level in the Netherlands, what is called undergraduate in the US is called HBO in the Netherlands, and is of bachelor level.

^^^ Doctorate also falls in the graduate category.
