Smoking - the best opium smoking methods thread

swim recently discussed ways of smoking opium in another thread and would like to cover the pros and cons of the various methods of smoking in one thread.
We hear of Ice and Meth pipes being used allot, and swims preferred method on good old foil with a tube.
Anyone use a classic opium pipe with oil lamp?
Swim prefers foil because it’s easy to use.
If swiy gets busted you can screw it up and throw it away.
swiy can buy it at most stores.
Its designed to be used at high temps with food.

SWIM has used aluminum foil for smoking just about everything!

SWIM likes to take a lenght of foil, wrap it tight around a #2 pencil to make the pipe stem and then loosely crumple the other end to make a bowl.

The people One knows (SWIM 1&2) have both used various methods over the years. The foil method is effective but can be hazardous (debatable) and produce more waste (a fact). They have both used traditional Opium pipes overseas, they were effective but also produce alot of waste. They have tried various "oil burner" style methods which work well also, but produce waste.

The glass "base pipe" (meth pipe, ice pipe, etc etc) has proven to be the most effective method that these SWIMs have found because of the following reasons.

glass heats evenly producing no "hot spots" like foil does.

glass heats fairly quick, but not quick enough to destroy the matter from over heating and thus producing waste. (happens alot with foil etc, both swims have seen it, done it etc) When something heats TOO rapidly and ones O comes into contact with too much heat instantly all it will do is go hard and not vaporize and produce the "smoke" or "vapor" it is renowned for. Both SWIMs have seen this happen with alot of smokable things. Too much heat TOO quickly, one wants to vaporize not grill the shit out of it.

glass is easy to clean and is better for the environment (which may be important to some). Rather that have a heap of foil on hand and waste a roll having fun with friends, the glass pipe is easily cleaned and used again and again.

an enclosed glass bowl produces less waste, because it is an enclosed "bowl" the vapor/smoke is trapped and cannot escape therefor producing no waste, especially for the people whom have never done it before. How many times has SWIY's watched someone doing this and they loose a bit (or a fair bit) of smoke etc doing it, how many times has it been seen that the material heats too quickly? producing more waste? etc.

Some people will be good at the foil thing and therefor not produce so much waste (just as Ones SWIMs used to do) but they moved over to the glass pipes because it produced even less waste.

Basically it is up to personal tastes and beliefs.
If one is good at something in particular and thinks that the risks are negligible then one will stick with that method.
If one is looking for a more efficient method one may try different methods.
One will eventually find the right method for SWIY.
