Re: skyrocketing blood pressure

blood pressure is not a rate....it doesn't slow down or speed up...The pressure within the circulatory system increases or decreases.
Don't quote me on this but, I believe BP usually increases with most drugs, even if the heart rate is known to decrease on that drug.

Re: skyrocketing blood pressure

^^no worries...just be sure to go back and edit this if you obtain silver membership...if this never happens request that a mod change it...surely i don't have to explain why having these words floating around the net is a bad idea.

But, back to swiy.

Is the pressure the same? Does swiy notice any other ill-effects? 151/101 is a little high...but it certainly isn't life threatening. In addition, other things can increase BP.

I had my BP taken 15 mins after chuggin 20oz Mt Dew and it was at around 145/90...
Also, BP can be highly variable changing by up to 20 points or more simply with in a few minutes. Changes in sitting, standing, walking, etc can change the BP and probably cause a temporary spike that give a BP reading higher than the true value.

that numbers pretty high, swim's usually 140/80 and doctors give him HBP medication, and tell him he'll dead before hes 50 if he doesnt get it down. swim wonders if his frequent hydrocodone use raises his, does anyone have a clear answer as to whether opiates raise it or lower it?

Re: skyrocketing blood pressure

I'm glad you posted this. SWIM has noticed the same thing with her blood pressure. Normally, SWIM's BP is 90/60, very low. SWIM's BP has been low all of her life until recently when she found a cool doc and got a scrip for some percocets. Since SWIM has been on the perc's (along with the occasional street roxicodones) she has noticed a spike in her blood pressure. SWIM's BP is not 131/110, VERY high for SWIM. It could be because the percs make SWIM smoke twice as many cigarettes as she would normally smoke, but who knows. Good question, SWIM would ask her doc, but she doesn't want him to think that she is taking more than the prescribed amount of pills.
