Advice on good ways not to get hooked
SWIM have recently found out thatSWIM will have to take Morphine
indefinitely due to a chronic pain condtion SWIM suffer from. SWIM done pretty much every drug going apart from Opoids. SWEIMN realize thatSWIM am certain to become dependent on Morphine but dont want to become addicted. SWIM has already started experimenting with ground up pills and rolled up notes. SWIM has spent his 12-26 year period invovled with drugs at some level. HOW CAN SWIM MAKE SURE HE KEEPS THIS MEDICATION AS A MEDICATION AND NOT A DRUG? |

Re: Advice on good ways not to get hooked
Swim's advice for Swiy is to allow himself to use the meds recreationally but only if he "saves up" enough to be able to do so. What Swim means is that Swiy should only allow himself access to the prescribed number of pills per day. If Swim is able to last the day wiithout actually taking all the prescribed pills he can save them up to be used recreationally at a later date, but Swim must never eat into future suplies. Comprende?
This will be much easier if Swiy has somebody they trust that can ration the pills for them. Hell, they can be kept hidden from Swiy if he really can't help himself. Of course, the best advice of all is for chronic pain patients to never, ever use opiates recreationally. Last edited by Tortoise; 11-11-2007 at 11:08. Reason: spelling error |

Re: Advice on good ways not to get hooked
Swim is also being treated for chronic pain taking 40mg of Percoset daily and has been doing this for 2-1/2 years. Swim tried the "save what you can do without" thing and ate them recreationaly. It didn't work because the pain overwhelmed the benefits of the float and the side effects of pain was jeopardizing Swim's health. Now Swim takes the Percs. which he considers medecine, only strictly as prescribed. Tolerance keeps the SWIM from having a recreational experience and SWIM now considers the Percs as a Dr's prescription only. The only worrisome thing is that SWIM can remember the floating and sometimes wants to do that. He has abstained. Treating the meds as just that without giving recreation an open door has been this Swim's solution. I hope you find yours.

I think celebrating the morphine? Maybe missed the chronic pain part! Or maybe something completely different. Anyway... Back on topic, Tortoise's advice is the best i can think of. If swiy really wants to use his morphine recreationaly then the aforementioned rationing is probably the safest route. But again, it might be best to stay away from recreational use of the meds you're taking daily, especially for pain management. |

Re: Advice on good ways not to get hooked
im sorry bro if youve had drug problems before your gonna be addicted, i think addiction has alot to do with your brain and how you think, if you know a substance helps you function your gonna know what to do to function. plus your brain atures, your brain depends on the opaite, its just impossible to use and not be addicted even if its perscribed, if you put it in your body your gonna pay the consequences.
NOW if your not tryign to get high and you use the lowest amount you can youl be better off BUT swim had what i consider a mild addiction to vikoden like swi would take aprox. 1-2 tabs per day, actualy swi would take doses of like 4 viks every 3-4 days of the week so he would take high doese rec. but would give a few days in between , swim did this for about 9 mo. before he knew he was hooked and has been hooken since and has wanted to quite alot and cant, i think i can quite soon im doing alot better but the mentle addiction is huge alot of people worrie abotu the physical but if you think about it it took 9 mo. to give swim 2-3 days of physical wd can you image how much mental wd comes before that!?!?!? BUT man im thinking you need to take these and your peolly alot older then me maybe opiates are for older people who are going out- enjoy the shit beofre you go thats all you can do..... Swim wants to quit cuz hes only 19 and when hes 40-50 he wants to pop pills everyday and thats just what swim wants to do. even though it would prolly be sad then too. |

Isn't much help, but if swiy can force himself to think of his medication as something associated with and used for pain treatment only, maybe he will be less inclined to think about getting a nice high after disassociating his conception of the medication from his conception of recreation. Once he no longer needs the medicine he should probably get rid of it, and I don't mean ingestion! If swiy has trouble convincing himself to fight off temptations, he could try taking a step back, calming himself, and reminding himself what he went through before and why he needs to take such precautions now. It may help that swiy doesnt have a history with opiods/opiates, but don't let that lull him into a false sense of security. Its medication, prescribed for a specific purpose, to be used as such. If that can't keep swiy from using recreationally, maybe finding an alternative drug (less potentially enjoyable) is the only way to go. Good luck to swiy with his pain problem, and I'm sure he will be fine. |

Re: Advice on good ways not to get hooked
mate you cant get addicted. you just cant.
If you dont want to become addicted be strong and stick to the recommended dose always. if you feel yourself slipping go and see you doc. good luck the mind is stronger than you think. |
