# 1-(benzo[d][1,3]dioxol-5-yl)-2-(methylamino)butan-1-one
hello everybod
i think this is my first post in here, but SMIW is a reader for a long time now so let's have good and copious discussions. please excuse my language sometimes, i'm from germany Nibbler (a Cat i know) spent the last hour or so trying to identify a compound which brought absolutely noting up. She came to it completely by a nice coincidence so, the name is: 1-(benzo[d][1,3]dioxol-5-yl)-2-(methylamino)butan-1-one kann anyone here explain to Nibbler what this compund is, or at least what's it like. she's guessing towards a further designed methylone but she's a complete layperson so any info would be higly appreciated. chemical properties, pharmacologicsl properties, any experiences, pictures of the molecule or a translation to a trivial name or at least a name, so, SWIM can get some info on it by using its "real" name and what is the butan-1-one anyway? what does this make out of a molecule? thank you very much in advance best regards dotzwaldt |

search bk-MBDB, butylone or mebylone.

Re: # 1-(benzo[d][1,3]dioxol-5-yl)-2-(methylamino)butan-1-one
parts of that structure are similar to bk-MBDB...
all SWIM can say for sure is the butan-1-one seems to be the alkane butane converted to a ketone...which would SWIM thinks be a butylone or butyl ketone.... only chem SWIM found with butyl ketone in name was ethyl n-butyl ketone, which seems to be a drying agent for fiberglass resins or something of the sort |

This drug isn't bk-MBDB though...SWIM can't figure out what it is except that it has the butyl ketone group similar to bk-MBDB

ahh...much applause SWIM now agrees it is
always only seen it with chemical name: 2-methylamino-1-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)butan-1-one) Can they be written any which way like so? (benzo still throws me off) |

Re: # 1-(benzo[d][1,3]dioxol-5-yl)-2-(methylamino)butan-1-one
^^not sure what exactly are asking, but
There can be many (sometimes many many) different names for a single compound. Particularly when it has found internation use as an as of yet legal drug called dubbed an "ecstasy alternative". No-one of these is wrong or right (except for the IUPAC)...it is mostly whether it makes chemical sense or not. I really dont like the benzo[d][1,3]dioxol-5-yl nomenclature myself...-methylenedioxyphen- makes more sense. |

Re: # 1-(benzo[d][1,3]dioxol-5-yl)-2-(methylamino)butan-1-one
Its just like that methylone can be written like this:
1-(benzo[dl][1,3]dioxol-5-yl)-2-(methylamino)-propan-1-one Some RC companies often write new names on their producs for the customs to have problems seeing what it is (even tho the name means the same). Even tho methylone is legal in denmark, the customs sometimes stops it and hold it for ages
