quitting pills

swims dog is planning on stopping taking ecstacy related substances. His dog has been taking such things on a regular basis for about 4 to 5 years He has had a few gaps in between of a few months,

this time he wants to quit them, but is wondering, how long will it take for the negative effects to vanish from my system and will my brain ever work in the same way that it used to?

Re: quitting pills

well it will never work the same, could be a noticeable difference or you might not even notice it.but to get your brain back to the same serotonan levels you should try 5-HTP.do some research on it,tons of info on this site.

Re: quitting pills

them things aren't to cheap as far as i've noticed, and the swim hasn't the money to dish out on such things all the time. May a Doctor be able to prescribe 5-htp in some form?

A doctor would probably want to put swim on antidepressants of some sort, but I'm not sure thats an option swim would want to take.

Re: quitting pills

dude it costs like x quid max per tablet. and ps, my mate can't even afford that. no job equals no money, can't seemt o hold down a job very well because of current state of mind, partly is down to ecstacy use (he's used e's for about 5 years now) on average atleast 5 pills consumed per night. Mind, he hasn't been on em every night for the last 5 years, he deffo's would have no brain left if that was the case. I'm on about casual use, eg. going out to the club on a weekend, take pills kinda situation, and every single house party type thing.

I believe he has a chemical embalance in his head, due to the E using up all his 'lifes absolutely great' chemicals all in chunks, there isn't much left.

Would throwing more of this serotonin into his head even help? it may just complicate things due to the possibilities of the 5-htp receptors being abit bashed?

Mind, its not like he never ever feels happy, just these da\ys its gharder for him to feel happy without having some sort of stimuli. Eg booze, other drugs.

Re: quitting pills

SSRI's that the doctor would most likely put your dog on would NOT be the answer... 5-htp is a very good way to naturally boost the brains seretonin cache.

the cost is really not that much man... if swiy can afford to be buying pills then swiy should have no problem getting the money for 5-htp

they had me on trycic anti depressants? (lofepramine) for about a year, and when i stopped taking them my anxeity did improve quite a chunk.

Re: quitting pills

Go out and buy them, it will cost you, but you decide on how much your health is worth. Personally, swim would rather buy 5-HTP and skip drugs that month if the 5-HTP used all his cash, having the 5_HTP for next time is worth it.

The 5-htp really hels swim recover after an evening out and you will find LOTS of users here recomend it.

Close, but not quite - Tryptophan is available on prescription, but is only really used for treatment resistant depression; in many years of working in psychiatry The Mouse has only known one person prescribed Tryptophan. 5HTP is available over the counter.
