XTC and sniffer dogs
ive already done a search and not found any definate responses on this, if swim was planning to take a small number of pills in their underwear to a indoor music event, where swims told there WILL be sniffer dogs.
1) should swim take them before entering or will they still be able to smell it? 2) if they can still smell it could swim protest and offer a search and say the dogs might be picking up something else or could they still detain swim (SWIM REALLY DOESNT WANT TO MISS THE EVENT) but then again swim would also not want to get arrested for obvious reasons. 3) swim after hearing news sniffer dogs would be there is really not happy about carrying but would like any possible solutions |

Re: XTC and sniffer dogs
If i were SWIM id take it before and not take the risk, i am sure as with most musical events and stuff they can't smell everything everywhere you know but still its never good to be that guy if you know what i mean

Re: XTC and sniffer dogs
Well from what i have found they can. So to be on the safe side take them before hand, no way they can smell them after they are in your intestines.
"...Our drug detector dogs are trained to find drugs like marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamines (meth). Today a fully trained drug dog goes for almost $6,000, and bomb-detectors sell for over $9,000." "...They run through houses and slink through cars, sniffing out the five drugs they're trained to find: meth, marijuana, cocaine, crack and heroin." ... "Once Flyer’s instinct was honed by training, he could track and find hashish, cocaine, crack cocaine, Ecstasy, heroin, certain prescription drugs, as well as money tainted with drug residue. " . |

Re: XTC and sniffer dogs
thanks swims event is in manchester uk and hes sure these dogs will be looking for ecstasy(also a tip off from a police training friend) as well in most clubs swim would be pushed to find some one who isnt on it. swims been told that these dogs however can still detect odours.
swim already has a (non drugs) conviction and wonders if they could detain swim on probable cause rather than suspician as probable cause (or something to that effect) is classified under "odour" then swim, would be detained and well, to be blunt f*cked swim apologises for rambling but really wants to explore all possible options as this night could possibly be one of the best nights of swims life or worst |

Re: XTC and sniffer dogs
and if they somehow DID smell it, they can't do shit about it unless swiy would actually be IN possession of something illegal. I think sniffer dogs are shit. I've had three experiences with getting pulled over and getting the dog, and all the fucking cop does is get the dog all excited so it will bark (and sometimes, it doesn't even bark) and they still say it hit on my car.
This is just a lame excuse for getting search warrants easy as hell. I mean, how the hell is a citizen supposed to know whether the dog really did hit on it or not. There's no way. |

Re: XTC and sniffer dogs
Quote:
The bottom line, they will get in your vehicle either way if they really want to. This is why some say it is better to let them search your vehicle, then swiy doesn't look like they're trying to hide something, and as long as swiy took the time to hide it properly the officer is unlikely to find it if you give consent. (If it took you 15 minutes to hide it, it will take at least an hour for them to find it)...the police are unlikely to spend more than 5 mins searching unless you give them a reason to. Quote:
2) While it is not illegal to smell like a drug, since you are trying to participate in a private event they may ask you to submit a search before entry. One could simply say they would rather have their rights remain intact than to enter the event and walk away. (ya swiy misses the event, but dont think would get busted. 3)Solutions? Can swiy bring liquids to the event? They could make a solution with it? Last edited by trptamene; 11-11-2007 at 00:43. |

Re: XTC and sniffer dogs
roll the tobaco out of a ciggerette inset some pills and pack the tobaco back in. dont know how the sniffer dogs will react though it has worked for swim a couple of times when just being searched.

Re: XTC and sniffer dogs
you werent aloud to take liquids into the event. swims friend decided to jump the wall and avoid police so swim and swims friends decided to give their pills to the jumper. funnily enough there were no sniffer dogs and no one (alot of other guests did but none of swims group) got any searches. however swims friend got caught and searched by a bouncer who found the pills. and said im going to have to confiscate these infront of his colleagues but let swims friend in round the back exit and gave him back his pills. swim and swims friends were very grateful and pleased to see not all club workers are pricks

Re: XTC and sniffer dogs
I have a friend who used to live in Miami. She is always going home and bringing pills back on the plane. I tell her that is a not-so-good idea, but she's totally cool about it. She has done it at least 50 times now, never even been questioned.

Re: XTC and sniffer dogs
Was SWIY talking about the Warehouse Project? Wow! That really is a great night. I've been and never seen a sniffer dog. It's all just rumours.
UK laws are alot different from US laws. There is no written constitution and a police officer may search anyone they want as long as they have reasonable suspicion. (Dodgy dealings in the street, shifty, suspicious behaviour, reported acting suspiciously in the area). Dog units are only used for tracking down offenders on the run. Specialist drugs dogs are brought in specifically for raids on properties. I am not sure which drugs they are trained to detect. |

Re: XTC and sniffer dogs
Sniffer dogs produce false positives and, unless the police actually find you in possession of a drug then they can't do anything about. It's not illegal to be high, it's illegal to have the drug that makes you high. They won't be able to get a search warrant based on that either because of the false positives. But they can still ask the organisers to bar your entry.
