Selenium and smoking

SWIM recently read on here that selenium can help protect against neurodamage from MDMA. Having bought selenium supplements SWIM found that they can't be taken by smokers. SWIM wants to protect from neurodamage as much as possible, but doesn't want to cause other damage by taking selenium then smoking.

Does anyone know what would happen if someone took selenium supplements and carried on smoking? Would it do more harm than good?

I've never seen anything on smoking relating to selenium, and I've tried a quick search about the net just and can't find anything sooooo

However has your mate ever thought about trying alternatives?

My mate had never heard anything about it either, it was on the side of the supplement box that it shouldn't be taken by smokers.

There are other things they know about they could try, just curious mainly about why smokers can't take selenium.

I can't find anything out there that says selenium is bad for smokers.

Infact all I can find is info that suggest the intake of selenium for smokers.
