Ok, my Datura plant has finally finished growing and I would like to get high off of it. How exactly do I go about doing this? I've heard everything from eating the seed pod to smoking the leaves to making a tea out of the flowers. Please include very detailed instructions. Thanks

Since Nightshades vary so much in alkaloid content and are as dangerous as they are I don't want to be responsible for providing a dosage chart for them.
Anyone who read this post before i finally edited it should keep in mind that they guy who made the chart, Sten Larris, was danish and that if his dosages were based on danish nightshades these would probably have been weaker than those grown in a southern climate.

Either your are uneducated or you have giant balls... This is is probably one of the most unpredictable of all drugs. I have experienced all sorts of highs but I would NEVER consume this shit. This stuff is very dose sensitive and you can never predict how much will hit you in one way. Also, many report that this stuff is not pleasurable and it will fuck with you, making you think your friends are around talking, ect. Good luck and stay safe.

I'm not sure which part of D. Metel you can use, the seeds, for sure, but just check out erowid.org, they,ll know. When smoking the effects are more immidiate than if you drink it, but the full effects build up over some time, so be careful when experimenting your way to the correct dosage.


Hindu Sahddus smokethe leaves and seedswith their cannabis sometimes, the datura representing the male side of Shiva and the cannabis representing the female aspect. In China they used to mix cannabis, datura and wine.


Oh, by the way, I searched my documents and found out you can also use the roots of D.Metel.

all parts of the datura plants contain scopolamine and the other tropane alkaloids that induce delirium, you can use any part of the plant, seeds and flowers and leaves in that order, that would be their relative potency, but take notice that potency varies highly from one strain to the other and from one individual specimen to the other...

Never use the roots. Its the most potient part and is usally gives you a bad trip though I've never tried the roots so I cant be sure.

I am not tring to dis you Cloudman, but if you have only "Heard" and not actually "Read" anything about this plant then it does not sound like you are well aware of the dangers.


Hyoscyamine, Atropine, Sculpolamine and Atropamine are only a couple of the alkaloids in Datura and any one of those four could kill you in even small doses. Some of these alkaloids have cumulative effects as well, meaning they stay in your body for long periods of time and if you usethem multiple timesthey can build up to a toxic level even though the last dose would not have been leathal by itself.


They just outlawed Jimson Weed (Datura stramonium) in Oaklahoma because of 6 Highshcool students who got sick on it.


I have only heard of one person that tried it and it was a FOF so I don't know how accurate it was. He supposedly was high and hallucinateing for 3 days and found himself naked in a dry creekbed.


But if you are bent on trying it, by all means post your results dosage, duration and experience.

It would seem that a lot of people are becoming interested in Datura and Brugmansia, something about the plants is very attractive to people. But the fact still remains, they are extremely poisonous. I agree with Dr. H, you should read a lot about it before trying, and even then be careful, since it's one thing to read about it and qutie another experience to be on it. There's a reason these plants are legal in most countries. Here's a quote fromk Michael Harners book the Shamans Way: "I also remebered stories of Jivaro who had taken maikua(Brugmansia) and become so delirious that they had dashed wildly through the forest to fall from cliffs or to drown. For this reason, they never took maikua without sober companions to restrain them."


Unless you're training to be a shaman you should stay away from this plant, it's not a fun drug, most hallucinogens aren't, but this one has more serious consequences than just a bad trip.

What is so attractive about literally losing your minf for a few days.

I do agree, but attraction is rarely based on logic. And not all desires should be given in to, of course.

you can find pharmecuticals with all of the active constituents of datura. they use them to treat the tremens of parkinsins desiese. artane is the one (mystery pill)that I tried. beladonna is a drug that has the same alkaloids. my girlfriend was prescribed it to smooth out her stomach lining. it is a disassociative adventure.

i have never tried datura and hopefully never will. but i can see were the attraction comes from. its an easy to obtain drug. also, people who dont read into it enough could think its just like any other halucinogetic drug. others may believe because of its legal status it will just be like smoking banana skins. i myself have a slight attraction to it and have considered it on many occasion. i keep thinking that as long as i have a sitter to look over me i'll just be able to ride it out. but then i remember that it is (by 99% of peoples accounts) a horrible experiance and the main effects could last up to 3 days. like i said, i do have an attraction to it but hopefully i'll just be able to stay away.

I think the attraction doesn't have to be from it being legal. I am attracted to the smell and shape and "aura"(know it sounds silly) of the plant, but I won't try a normal dose of it, not yet anyway. Maybe if I'm ever in a jungle in Peru with an experienced shaman, whom I trust.

I'm starting to feel like a broken record sometimes, but this plant will NOT "get you high" Pot will get you high, Datura will put you out of your mind. Even if you manage to be one of the few who actually have a good time with it, you most likely will not remember much if any of the trip itself. Read the experiance reports on Erowid, seems like datura should be renamed 3 days of hell. I love trips in all shapes and forms, except for this one. Do yourself a favor, and stay away.

Me and my friend made up a tea of Datura metel seeds, leaves, and flowers. He drank most of it I tried a few sips, but did not give into his pressureing me into doing more, and heended up drinking the rest of it. He did NOT halucinate or get any type of enjoyable effects from Datura Metel consumption. IT is a cool plant to have in the garden, but I don't think it is any good to consume. My friend was just fucking up stomach ache, blurred vision, off balance, these persisted for three days and did not totally clear up for atleast a week. He complained of abnormal vision all week. I grow this plant, but I do not recommend getting high off of it. I saw a show about a dude in INdia or somewhere who used Datura metel everday numerous times, and could not function properly without it. He usually chewed a mixture of the leaves and seeds. His teeth were all black; he was some type shaman, and he said he could not think straight without it.





Just seeing this show has made me somewhat curious of the effects of consuming it, but with my first hand experience watching my friend and reading everyone elses horror stories, the only thing a may try is smoking some dried leaves or seed with weed, but I doubt it.

for Datura metel, you need to make a quite strong tea, so that it is
actually quite thick, like a syrup. However, you really shouldn't do
it. I had a friend die when I was 14 (car crash not datura) and I saw
her corpse when I was on Datura metel.
