redilating your pupils after constriction?
We all know opiates will pin point your pupils like nothing else when you're really good and toasted. SWIM was wondering if there was anyway to redilate them afterwards? SWIM know they have drops that dilate you pupils when you go take an eye exam, but is there anything over the counter, or perhaps available online?
SWIM thanks you in advance for any help. =) |

Re: redilating your pupils after constriction?
Hmmm...i think anything that dilates your eyes is going to go too far and they'll just turn into saucers...which in my opinion is a bigger indicator of drug use than constricted pupils

Re: redilating your pupils after constriction?
Still, when SWIM is trying to hide the fact that he is high from his dope fiend brother so he doesn't constantly pester him about letting him have some of what SWIM's got. Plus, the fact that opiods constrict your pupils so much, maybe instead of overdilating, it would be normal sized pupils?

Re: redilating your pupils after constriction?
As far as I know, the drops they use at the ophthalmologist contain minute doses of atropine. I don't think they are available over-the-counter or online, and playing around with nightshades is certainly too dangerous to be considered.
Stimulants are also not recommended in conjunction with opiates, as trptamene already pointed out. Maybe there are other safer and effective means of dilating one's pupils. Sunglasses maybe?

Re: redilating your pupils after constriction?
Using stimulants would probably just counter the effects as well as the signs of use or intoxication. As for those eye drops, i think they will still open your iris right up regardless.

Re: redilating your pupils after constriction?
Well, first off, I don't own a pair of sunglasses, and secondly, why would I just be wearing sunglasses inside the house? heh
It just sucks because he has absolutely no self control with opiates. If he sees that I'm high, he's going to want to get high, and he'll stoop to insanely low levels to try and get dope money. Like yesterday, he actually got my dad on his side on this one somehow..."Hey man, can I go pawn one of your cameras? I just can't be dopesick anymore. It's gonna be another week till I even feel better. I asked dad, and he promised that he'll get the money somehow to get it out of the pawn shop." Now, my dad is as broke as me and my brother, so how would he get the money to get my shit out of the pawn shop? Hmmmm, pay the house note and car payment, or get my son's camera back? I sucked, because while he wanted to do all of this, I was pretty buzzed because I scraped up enough money to get a few pills. If he would have noticed my eyes, he would have been even more relentless in his attempt to pawn my personal belongings. It seems like there isn't much I can do about redilating my pupils. Oh well, I suppose I'll just have to stick with avoiding all eye contact and making sure the lights are low/off, which can be suspicious. heh |

Re: redilating your pupils after constriction?
Oh, sorry for the double post, but for some reason (I may just be blind and stupid) I can't find the edit post button. In the above post I used "I" alot. Of course, this was all hypothetical, and was not a story about me at all, but about SWIM... >_>

Re: redilating your pupils after constriction?
As mentioned, atropine is still sometimes used to dilate pupils by opthalmolists, though it has several downsides; it will fully dilate the pupils, which is an even more obvious sign of drugs use, it will persist for a few days, one is partially blind during this period and it's risky stuff to experiment with. One would be better off with constricted pupils than to mess around and try to dilate it just enough till it looks normal again.

Just play tired and "sleep" it out. The relaxing will intensify the high, anyway.

Re: redilating your pupils after constriction?
SWIM has taken some codeine tonight and notices that his pupils are quite constricted right now. Psychonaut's right though. No point messing around in order to get them to look normal. They constrict for a reason.

Re: redilating your pupils after constriction?
My friends pupils never get constricted now, even after using a couple of bags and methadone, i think it's just tolerance.
He can remember trying to hide his pupils from friends and family at the start though, avoiding eye contact and generally avoiding people that might know. As for your brother, i would just plead ignorance and say you have no idea what he is talking about, just say it must be the light (which naturally constricts your pupils anyway) or just say he is obsessed and you don't know what he is on about. |

Re: redilating your pupils after constriction?
Optometrists, opticians and ophthalmologists use the following;
1) Tropicamide: Causes dilation, but not cycloplegia. Cycloplegia is where the muscle that allows a person to focus from distance to near is temporarily paralysed making it very difficult to read. Tropicamide is the most common used mydriatic for this reason and also because it lasts only 3 or 4 hours. 2) Phenylepherine: Causes dilation and cycloplegia. Often used with tropicamide if a patient is not responding well to tropicaminde alone or if a very, very big pupils are needed for ocular surgery. Acts on different receptors to tropicamide so they complement eachother well. Lasts about 5 or 6 hours. Also causes constriction of blood vessels and may be found in minute quantities in some OTC drops to relieve redness. There is nowhere near enough in those drops to cause pupil dilation 3) Atropine: Causes massive dilation and cycloplegia and often used on children who have lazy eyes (amplyopia). In this instance it is used on the good eye to cause blurriness and force them to use and therefore train their bad eye. Atropine dilation and cycloplegia can last days. All of these drops will completely overpower any constriction from opiates and will cause moderate discomfort due to glare and/or inability to focus. Driving would not be safe at all and you would look like you were on uppers, thus rousing much more suspicion than constricted pupils. peace T |
