has anyone tried it?
Does it work? What did they do to you? procedures? Cost?? expensive compared to other methods that are just as good? Total Hype? BS? Worth it? 1-10? |

Re: hypnosis to quit?
A few people I know tried this, one girl gave up for 6 months, the other one said it was a load of crock and that she was never at any point hypnotized. She walked out wanting a cigarette more than she did when she walked in. The cost was a couple of hundred and when she tried to get her money back he said no but she could have as many appointments as needed. She knew it would never work and threatened to take him to "Fair Go" (A TV show about companies and organizations that rip people off) He decided to give her her money back.
Not worth it in my opinion, you are much more likely to have success with Bioresonance Therapy or taking bupropion / wellburin / zyban or even with reading Allan Carr's book "How to quit smoking for good" The success rate is much higher with these techniques I'm sure. If hypnosis had high success rates we would hear much more about it. |

Re: hypnosis to quit?
Do note that hypnosis relies on your own willpower. If you believe hypnosis will work, it will more than likely work. But if you can put that much belief in hypnosis, you should be able to put enough belief in yourself to quit without resorting to such measures.

This site has some interesting information on people that are affected badly by hypnosis written by a hypnotist. http://www.dangers-of-hypnosis.co.uk..._hypnosis.html It looks like it is a rare occurrence but some people's minds may be too vulnerable to be hypnotised safely. Look into my eyes...![]() ![]() Back on topic, SWIM's boss had this done for smoking and he has gone from 20 a day to none. He said they just sit there and talk to you to make you question why you smoke and convince you to give up...... SWIM gave up around the same time with no hypnotherapy and is also still off the cigs though, so some people need it, some don't. |

Re: hypnosis to quit?
Hypnosis is only a little more than guided meditation. It only works on people whose are highly suggestible. Personally, I would never allow myself to be that damn suggestible. I prefer to educate myself and formulate my own ideas, thoughts and opinions by asking original questions to arrive at genuine answers. I would never want someone fucking with my brain like a hacker. They can put all sorts of suggestions in your head without you, OR THEM realizing exactly what they are doing to you. The only person capable of hacking your brain with efficiency is YOU. The problem is that most people just can't stand to be that honest with themselves about who they are and have repressed massive amounts of information. That large portion of the ID being trapped in the unconscious is EXACTLY the Jungian metaphor made by the movie "The Matrix"
