Re: Mushroom Id Alabama

I've looked at a few sites as well as the sticky at the top of this forum and these appear to to fairly similar to Copelandia cyanescens, which according to the aforementioned sticky occurs in my state. The spore print was black, fitting the description, not to mention that the shroomery's profile on Copelandia cyanescens mentions that they are browner when wet and progressively become whiter/gray as they age. This has also occured w/ my specimens

Re: are these psilocybe semilanceata?

NEVER trust an id for mushrooms you get off a picture/description from the internet. Or Hippie Joe who has half a liver. At LEAST get a good book to learn the basics like taking spore-prints and learn gill structure, etc. Join a local mushroom club is fun and educational. And a course at a local collage can't be beat.

By the way - those look like Galerinas which would dissolve your liver (slowly) and kill you. No known antidote. Now go throw those out and wash your hands.

Defefenately not semileanceata, But more like Galerina autumnalis, nanognog is right, IMHO.
Very poisonous, and he's right about liver destruction...
Noone can identify positevely a shroom on a pic...

Re: are these psilocybe semilanceata?

Nope. These are in the class of little brown mushrooms and are not psychoactive. SWIM used to find these all the time in France and wished they were liberty caps - until SWIM started to find the liberty caps that is... SWIM does not think that they are poisonous, but there is no point in finding out. SWIM recommends a spore print on white paper to determine color, and on a glass slide with a low power microscope to definitively identify the mushroom. Gross morphology is unreliable with this type of shroom.

Do not eat them. They are not liberty caps.
