An herbal blend...

after looking at the contents of differnt happy caps and researching some plants on erowid i decided to try a mix of herbs to produce what could potentially be a pretty good high... heres my plan of ingredients

Passion flower
mild sedative – small amounts of maois

yerba mate
stimulant – good mood and a sense of well being

guarana
stimulant (fuck loads of energy)

kava
depressant, intoxicant – apparently quite similar to drinking if done a few times (reverse tolerance)

ginkgo biloba
nootropic (smart drug) – increase blood flow, memory and cognition – slightly euphoric

kola nut
stimulant – strongly euphoric

schisandra
Schisandra is known to stimulate the nervous system, increasing the speed of reflex nervous responses and improving mental clarity. Human studies have also shown that Schisandra can improve vision, even enlarging the field of vision, and can improve hearing. It also improves the discrimination ability of the skin receptors. It has been determined that this increased sensitivity is due to improved function of the central nervous system's ability to analyze data flowing to it from the peripheral sensors. It is also a sedative…

I think that the combination of stimulants, intoxicants/sedatives, euphoric feelings, stimulated nerve cells/skin sensitivity and increased blood flow to the brain (to help it all work) should defiantly have a pretty good effect and its all legal (in australia)…..

any opinions or has anyone tried any similar mixes

What kinds of extracts do you plan to use? Note that kava-Kava is not legal in several countries.

Re: my herbal blend...

Could all these psychoactive substances used all at once cause any troubles?
would it potentially be more toxic than by itself?

Re: my herbal blend...

The mixture sounds good, should be fairly safe unless the amount of passion flower used was excessive enough to work as an MAO-inhibitor.

The Kava should remove some anxiety from the high dose caffeine from the Mate, Kola and Guarana.

Ginkgo and Schizandra seem to work like adaptogens, ie: may take a few days of consistent use to get much result, but I can,t see them doing any harm, they may even give things a bit of a boost.

The main problem I can see is you having is with the taste, a brew containing all of the above will be truly foul

Re: my herbal blend...

yeah i was thinking about drinking the kava seperatly and mixing the rest together as the taste of kava is truly wrong.. also if the mix works good then it would be worth doing an extraction on all of them and putting them into caps for ease/get rid of having to drink it down...

"Ginkgo and Schizandra seem to work like adaptogens, ie: may take a few days of consistent use to get much result" - maybe preload with a fair bit of them for a few days before hand, also yeah minimal passion flower use would be a good idea but i got the idea that the amount of maoi's in it are extremly small...

Fresh passionflower tea with a small amount of honey, on the other hand, is an acquired taste that you may end up liking.
