If swiyou could go back
MOD EDITED. DO NOT SELF INCRIMINATE
Would you pass on your first line? As a matter of fact would you wipe cocaine off the face of the earth, I have to say honestly I would, swim could get high off of weed before, now rolls don't even hit swim. Last edited by Benga; 31-10-2007 at 07:27. Reason: self incrimination |

Re: If you could go back
No, swim can't say he would. Live needs to be lived. Admittedly not abused, but then swim has not had that problem. If swim lived his life over again he would have passed on less and tried more including his first line. What better feeling than to get to the end of your days knowing that you have done everything you wanted to do and have no major regrets.

Re: If you could go back
I have never done cocaine so I couldn't tell you.
But I did meet a hermit the other day and he said that he wouldn't give up his experiences with cocaine for anything. |

Re: If you could go back
You have to remember that most people who use cocaine do not go on to be addicts. I wouldn't wipe cocaine off the face of the earth, I would simply encourage those who use it use it responsibly.

Re: If you could go back
SWIM has learned way to much about life and humanism, I imagine it as a powerful double edged sword that you have to respect for its power, if you play with it too much or carelessly, youll get cut.... imho

Re: If you could go back
Regrets? I've had a few, but then again, too few to mention . . .
SWIM danced with lady yayo for a while, but every self-respecting lab monkey has to be aware enough to recognise when he's not leading anymore and must be able to do what it takes to straighten himself out. Would he pass on his first line? Hell no. Should *some* people have passed on their first line? In some cases, yes. |

Any regrets?
My friend has never tried coke, but she has decided that she wants to, and plans on doing it in the near future. But before she makes such a decision, we both thought that it would be best to ask you all of you who have family members/ acquaintances/ imaginary friends/ pets who use or have used cocaine: if you could go back in time, would you have done that first line? Do you think it was worth it? Do you think that your life would have been better off without it?
And please, tell them none of this "everything I have done has brought me to the place where I am today, so no regrets" bs . Tell it to us straight!

Re: Any regrets?
SWIM likes having new experiences, and has no moral qualms with it, so he has no regrets from that point of view. But when looking back on it, he has to say for sure that it's an unnecessary experience, at least for him. Kind of one of those things that was fun, but only for a short period of time.
Also, SWIM never allowed his pets to get too much, so it never became a problem. If one allows it to become an issue, then regrets could very easily begin to appear. Keep responsible use in mind if you're worried about it at the start. Good luck.

Re: Any regrets?
No swim thinks that it has been a fun experience that he will never regret. He might not say that if he had pawned all personal possessions in order to get a fix tho. Like stated above, keep responsible use in mind. It can be very expensive, so give yourself a limit. Dont let it become an issue financially or healthwise. Too much of anything is a bad thing.

Re: Any regrets?
SWIMS friends have problems with it and SWIM does not take part because it is addictive and SWIM has problems quitting nonaddictives. SWIMS friends have a family members that have died and one that is in rehab for it. One friend has problems still and is emotionally unstable at times. But besides using it just use in moderation and be around someone who knows how to help if anything go wrong.

Re: Any regrets?
SWIM has sacrificed some unnecessary things, but if he could go back he'd still do that first line. The good coke experiences almost out way the bad.

As for being better off he says yes, from a knowledge perspective he is a lot wiser for having tried it. However from a financial perspective he is a lot poorer. Despite the fact that he sets himself a budget for recreational substances (and so has never had to sell, pawn, beg, steal or borrow) he could have replaced his car a couple of times over. This is only relevant because he probably needs to think about a newer car this year. Re: Any regrets?
It is true as you say, swim couldn't undo any one decision without undoing it all, and then where would she be?
But honestly, this may be an unpopular answer, but if she thinks solely about cocaine- her decision to try it, and the things that followed relating only to cocaine itself- she would say she could regret it. She doesn't like to say that, because you can't regret things in the past in order to live fully in the moment... but if she thinks of regret speaking to someone who has yet to try it, then yes she regrets it, in that it brought more "bad" than "good." And the strange thing is, she struggled with heroin addiction, and doesn't regret trying heroin even though it fucked her over pretty good in some ways. But cocaine is the one thing that makes her physically ill to think about, when she has occasional "flashbacks" if you will of her time using cocaine it makes her feel so wretched and nauseous and anxious. Cocaine as an adjunct to addictive behaviors was not good, but even without the addiction aspect, the negative feelings, for her personally, far outweighed the good. The bad comedowns, the anxiety, the health risks (weight loss to unhealthy proportions, heart damage- luckily not permanent as her most recent test was fine, but she did have her heart damaged in a way that would technically be called a minor "heart attack"), the money spent, the memories of the horrible places and people it exposed her to that she would never choose to enter into without the cocaine having something to do with it. Not espousing the whole cocaine makes you into a coke whore concept, as it doesn't, and that didn't happen, that's not what she is saying- but the people she bought it from, or did it with, were not people she'd otherwise want to be around looking back on it, and since she hasn't done coke, about two plus years now, she hasn't seen any of them since. And the friendships, real friendships of some kind, that become discolored by cocaine's influence, usually ended badly. Finally, knowing what she knows now about the consequences of cocaine in the countries where it is grown and the people who have to produce and distribute it, she could never knowingly choose that. As one who believes our money makes a statement, and is one of the biggest forms of power or freedom we have left, we have to spend it in ways that we are okay with- whether buying local produce, or not supporting child labor, or whatnot- swim supports this idea for drugs as well- of course swiy's question was a personal one, so this is less relevant, but overall swim does not think cocaine has done anything positive for her. In addition, she can see how one wants to have the experience, or how cocaine seems like it would be really glamourous or euphoric or worthwhile, but it doesn't live up to its hype in this swimmer's experience. That said, she respects everyone's decisions and experiences, and knows there are likely many members here who have not been significantly negatively impacted. She just wanted to be honest and share her thoughts in the spirit of the question asked. Whatever happens, do what feels right to swiy and enjoy life, and any substances chosen to enhance it, to the fullest!! Last edited by moda00; 04-04-2008 at 16:57. |

Re: If you could go back
Swim has a difference of opinion as she honestly does regret railing that first line. It seems to have been an uphill battle since she did it. Would she have done it again, the honest answer here is probably so given what was going on in her life at the time.

Re: If you could go back
SWIM tried coke a couple times, just a couple lines, a year or so ago. It was ok, but SWIM didn't see what the big deal was.
Then about 6 months ago, SWIM's friend met a neighbor who could get some and decided to split a gram and it was a fantastic experience. SWIM is cheap so he decided to see if buying a full ounce would be cheaper and it was. SWIM cleaned it and got about 20 clean grams out of it. SWIM shared some with friends but probably did 15 on their own over a period of 3 months. At certain times it got pretty addictive for SWIM, doing roughly a gram a day for several days straight. Now SWIM ran out of coke a few months ago and doesn't talk to that friend anymore. That's probably the best thing that could have happened because SWIM got over thinking about it all the time and doesn't have the "need" for it anyone. SWIM probably couldn't resist if someone put it in front of him, but doesn't have to go out in search of it. SWIM would say that coke is great and doesn't regret doing it. However, SWIM would warn people who plan to do it with a bunch of friends to be careful because it's hard to stop if those around you are doing it. |
